Best fitting waders that I have put on. Simms G3 durability and warranty are well known but being comfortable during long days fishing makes it super enjoyable. I’m not brand specific with my outdoor gear and tend to buy what fits my needs best. I rarely match but I don’t care. These are the best I have found for my needs.
These are FIVE star waders but the new design of the flip out chest pocket is unfortunate. The zipper that allows you to remove the flip out pouch starts to come unzipped with just a little bit of weight (such as a cell phone) in it. Thank goodness there is a little zipper pull tether with a buckle or mine would have come completely off and fallen into the river. Other than this, I would NEVER own a different brand of waders. The fit is great the new lighter weight and flexible material is so nice compared to my 12 year old G3s. Simms, you knocked it out of the park with these but just go back to sewing the flip out chest pocket directly to the waders. The zipper IMO is an unnecessary trick.
Bought a pair of G3 waders back in January to replace a pair of Orvis waders that had begun to leak. Finally got to get out and fish and try them out the other day. Hands down the best fitting pair of waders I have ever had. They feel robust without being heavy or stiff. Look forward to spending may years in these.
While I was fishing the Milwaukee River, Wis. for Steelhead, I took a bad step. This caused me to loose my balance and fall forward towards a submerged large boulder not visible in the murky water. I crushed my shinbone against the boulder causing me to loose my breath in pain. Of course I kept fishing in the ice cold water. One hour later when I got to the car and removed my waders I found my fleece pants soaked with blood from the knee down. My leg had what looked like a bullet hole in it. To my absolute amazement my multi year old G3 waders barely had a scratch. I love these waders. I would add a photo but I think it's to gross to show.
Have had them for a month. Used them 8 times for duck hunting. The stocking feet are a little bigger than normal which is good. Still trying to figure out the layering levels for warmth underneath the waders. The support staff convinced me to get a size larger than planned for layering. Good suggestion. Very comfortable and enjoy hiking into the swamp with them on and not sweating. Bought a pair of Simms Freestone wader boots this week. A great addition. It's supposed to be 28 degrees in the am, but I expect to be warm and dry!
The Best Wader On the Market, Highest Quality In Every Detail. Tough & Durable
This Wader is simply the best. I’m sure the G4 waders some would argue are even better, but the G3 Guide is the best wader I’ve ever put on. It’s definitely of the highest quality down to every little detail. I needed a tough wafer where I do all my fly fishing in the Appalachian’s. This wader is definitely tough & durable. They exceeded my expectations, I always say Simms products are on another level all to themselves. You get that in these waders & in every other G3 series product. The cinder vest matches the waders really well if you care about that sort of thing. I highly recommend these to any fly fisherman whether you are new to it or you’re a die hard life’r. If you just go a few days a year or if you’re out there nearly every day possible, these waders are the very best.
Simms waders are the best on the market wether you buy high end or some of the cheaper models definitely more bang for your buck. Comfortable good fitting quality material makes for an long lasting product.
I’m a fishing guide on the Gulf Coast. My G3’s keep me dry every time. Simms is more expensive than the run of the mill waders out there, but if you want dependability and great customer service, then you need Simms waders..
good wader, super comfortable but developed a small leak at the seam taping in the crotch area after 6 months of light use, thought the build Quality would be better for USA made waders. otherwise no leaks even with long deep wading.
Spot on size guide to achieve the perfect fit and very well made (no surprise coming from Simms). Seem to hold up in all different conditions/temperatures. Definitely expensive, but expect them to hold up for awhile if taken care of properly. Top of the industry warranty also help to ease the “sticker shock”,
My second pair of G3’s after my first pair were stolen. First of, love the shadow green color. The only issue that I have had is the belt loops are fraying a bit, worn under ten times. I’m a female, went with the men’s waders because they are more my style and they fit perfect. I purchased 7-8 SK so I can layer up. I highly recommend! Also, Simms has has phenomenal customer service!
I’m 5’1 and around 125lb.... they are easy to move in and I’ve never, ever had wet feet in either wader
Outstanding fit and finish. I’m 6-2 210 and the Large regular Shoe size 12-13 fit perfect and still have some extra space inside for when I will need to wear more layers for warmth in the fall and winter. I walk miles And in steep and rugged terrain when I’m fly fishing these small high country streams and these waders are more then up to the challenge The chest pockets and little Zipper gear bag are awesome and very handy for storing your essential gear like extra line, nippers, and flys. The camo pattern is hands down the best riparian camo Ive seen. Whether its bow hunting or fly fishing being able to blend in with the environment of the animal your hunting is absolutely key to your success and seems to be an asset that is often over looked in the fly fishing world. Maybe if your flu fishing big water from a boat it may not be as important but I almost exclusively fish high country rivers and creeks and most of the time the water is crystal clear making not spooking the Trout when approaching and walking the stream almost as important as your fly choice and casting techniques!
