Quarter Zip Rivershed Sweater
I've been a Simms Customer for a long time and when I hit the water I look like a walking, talking Simms advertisement. Over the years I have never rated" their products or service lower then a "five". A couple of years ago I bought a brownish tan "Quarter Zip Rivershed sweater that was made in China that I really loved. The weave was outstanding, it was tight, hugged my body and was just about wind proof, But, what I really liked was the way thr collar was made. The collar stood up from the body of the sweater when zipped up and kepth the back of my neck warm. I liked that sweater so much that I bought a blue one the next year. The design was slightly different , but I still would give it a five.
This year I decided to buy another one just in case Simms decided to discontinue the product.
Well, friends now as you can see the best I can give this new design is a two and in my mind that's being generous. This sweater was made in El Salvaldor and instead of the weave being tight and more or less messed like a knitted fabric simaliar to my other ones, it is a horizontal corduroy pattern that fits lossely on my body allowing wind to pentrate the fabric. .The sleeve material is starting to fray after just two weeks of moderate wearing. Now, for the Collar. the design has been changed and it no longer stands straight up and hugs my neck when zipped up like the old design did.
So that being said my friends, I hope Simms reads this review and goes back to their old design. In the mean time, I suggest that you save your $99.95 an wait for the next version of what was once one of my favorite Simms products.
