For my first pair of Waders they fit great. I went with a 2XL to make sure I have extra room for colder weather and even then they are still a great fit. Stayed dry and was pretty warm the entire time. I am 6'1 and these worked great.
Not just an entry-level wader, the Simms Tributary Wader is my go-to wader in especially hot weather. I have a pair of Simms G4Z waders that I reserve for salmon and steelhead season, but the Tributary is hard to beat when temperatures climb above 80 degrees F. and wet wading is not an option. I also carry the Tributary as a back-up wader in case of emergency. Typical Simms quality at a price point that anyone can afford.
Horrible Customer Service and waders have had 2 leaks in less then a year. Simms has had my Waders for over 5 months with ne single update!!
I bought a pair back in December of 2019 about august of 2020 I had my first leak in the footing. November 2019 I had a small leak on the lower back section I chose Simms because of the excellent review and customer service but I have been very disappointed I had 2 holes in less then a year. I sent them in for warranty in November 2020 I got a email stating they would send me a new pair, I called in January 2021 they said they didn't have them in stock till February 12 and I would get an email when shipped Feb 20th 2021 I called for an update and they told me they were still waiting for stock and they would be in March 15 , I called on March 25th and they said they wouldn't have them in stock until May!! Worst part is I have never gotten an update from them I've had to call they have had me waiting since November that's 5 months!! I'm am calling Simms again tomorrow and its not going to be very nice I am really upset I haven't had an update from them at all worst customer service I've had. I understand they're having issue with stock but the reason I'm so upset is they haven't given me one update on what's going on. I'm not sure ill buy Simms again. My name is Jack Jaramillo from NM Case # 201266 if Simms sees this and decides to give me a call and talk about this horrible customer service I have received.
TL;DR: wader features are great, seams began leaking within 3 months.
I purchased a pair of tributaries in the long size. I’m 6’5”, 200 lbs and went with the medium long. They were a bit short, and crouching was slightly constrained. With no better options in my price range I went ahead with the purchase. Things that were great were the zippered pocket and handwarmer tunnel. The material is lightweight but it didn’t seem to face any issues with brush or errant hooks. However, after 3 months the seams along the front of the lower leg began leaking. I initially thought I had left the waders wet after a previous outing. But I can now say with certainty that the entire length of the front leg seam is leaking, and the crotch seam too. Not a ton of water coming in, but you’re not staying dry. Less of an issue in the warmer months but for winter fishing it’s a bit painful. I’ll be sending these back to be repaired under warranty, but I’m disappointed in their performance after only a few months
I'm new to fly-fishing and the waders and sling pack are already helping with my success. Comfortable with a long walk to the creek. Super comfortable with a great chest pocket for the few things I need handy.
Great waders! Fit great, really comfortable. I’ve had these for one whole year and they finally ran out of gas. Stocking foot neoprene is wearing out in multiple places on both feet. There were only a couple of leaks in the breathable section in my crotch area but it held up surprisingly well! They are just not meant for heavy use.
I had a similar inexpensive Simms nylon wader for 5 years before it started to leak. I forgot what it was called at the time. The Tributary wader felt much thinner and provided less insulation than my old wader. I know this is an inexpensive product and should not expect too much of it, but one of the stockingfeet seemed to have some leak the first time I used it. I returned it and bought a G3, which I love.
I loved these waders when I first got them about a year ago. Light, comfortable and easy to move in. I fished a lot but never abused them, treated them as best I could. Now I have a leak in the left leg and no matter how many times I try to patch it it seems to sprout a new one next to the old repair. It’s right where the neoprene booty joins the pant leg. Won’t be long before the whole thing is covered with Aquaseal. Really disappointed they only last a year.
Well made, good design features, lightweight and durable. I have a 30 inch inseam and although I purchased the XL Short, the wader legs bag a lot at the break. Doesn't seem to be a problem at this time.
Tributary Stockingfoot Waders review from the Berkshire, and Green mountains. Deerfield River in Massachusetts
Super happy with my purchase of these waders. They fit great, the stocking feet are almost molded.to your foot. No bulkiness. The vet great, and I have great mobility. Just following the sizing chart provided by Simms, and you can't go wrong. I previously shopped with L.L. Bean, because of their lifetime warranty. Well, that changed. I spent $400.00 with them, on waders, and wading boots. My Kennebe waders leaked. I brought them in for an exchange. They tried telling me they had no record of my purchase. This was after the decided to change their guarantee. So now, I will forever be shopping with Simms. They have the best guarantee in the business now. I am super happy with my Tributary's, and you will be too
First pair of Simms waders. Fit great right out of the box. Wore them during 3 days of 90 degree heat in the West Branch of the Delaware, quite comfortable. I wear lightweight polypropylene bottoms under my waders, this combo worked great. The integrated gaiters are real functional, no silt or pebbles inside my boots. It would be nice if the zip pocket was located inside the waders, to avoid losing anything in the river should it slip when you take it out of the outside pocket. Impressed overall.
A birthday present for the son-in-law so wanted to minimize risk on fit and leaks. Mission accomplished. He has been wading around in a shallow pond pulling cattails over the course of the last week. No problems. Some river fishing to follow.
Have only used them once so far but for me 5'9", 165 lbs, size 9 foot the fit of these waders is so good its hard to realize they aren't custom made. The "runs small" fit was for me about perfect. Getting my feet into and out of the stockingfeet neoprene is easier than any waders I've owned. The light weight is perfect for the fishing I do, mostly rocky bottom rivers and creeks, with enough room that when we get to late fall and winter I have enough room to put layers inside to keep out the cold. Before these I ordered and tried on FreestoneZ waders but the fit was too big and with the front zipper (wonderful idea) they were just too bulky on top. The tributary's are just right.
Living east and fishing spring, summer, fall, lightweights are all I have needed. Went with other "mainstream brands" before that are made across the Pacific and wear out in 3 - 4 years - thought that was what happens. This time I needed to replace mine's and my wife's and wanted to buy American. A little more expensive true, but when we opened the boxes and saw the quality material, heftiness, craftsmanship/construction, we knew we made the right choice. My wife said the first time wearing as we left the river, "Well, these are far better . . . 5 stars."
Wish I had started with Simms years ago. Other Big well-known names will say, "Our waders are designed by us in the USA and made to our exact specifications in _____". Nope, those people across the ocean do not wear waders to fish, nor do they have the seasons, etc. If you are on the fence or researching which company to go with - look no further. We are Simms people now.
overall good, fit is excellent feet and legs but little tight hips and chest. this is a common problem, foot fit is v important for walking comfort and small feet often mean tight body if not enough sizes to cover average body size. I ordered small size, more sizes were available in the more expensive waders front seam is good for wear on inside legs, good design
I am 5'9" weighing about 185 with wide shoulders and these fit comfortably. I have plenty of room to put on a sweatshirt or jacket if needed. I've been out in these a handful of times so far and i've had zero issues. I like the fleece hand warmer pocket and front zipper.
The fit is perfect with no bulk especially around the foot. The boot is tighter like a sock. I didn’t like that the waterproof pouch is not included, so there is and empty zipper on the inside. But the waders are the best I’ve ever owned.
I just purchased these waders from Dick’s sporting goods as I needed them today for a trip tomorrow. They seem to be great quality but for $200 I expected them to come with a belt and an internal pocket. There’s a zipper for a pocket to be added but I guess you have to buy that too.
