GORE™ OPTIFADE™ Elevated II:
Specifically designed for whitetail hunters in an elevated position. Its macro and micro pattern configurations echo the higher contrast of bright sky against the shaded underside of foliage while allowing hunters to extend their season as the leaves change. It’s designed for engagement ranges of 80 yards or less and keeps the hunter undetectable at 15 feet up in a tree stand.
Awesome jacket! It is very warm and very easy to layer. I can wear this as a stand alone jacket or use it to layer when the temps drop in the 20's. Its very lite and packable. I can roll it up and pack it in during the mid season and get it out in the evenings when it cools down a bit. The harness port makes it super easy to stay connected. I like the thumb holes for layering and for when i wear my gloves. It seems to add just a bit more warmth to my arms and hands. This is one of my favorite pieces of gear.
Great jacket. After buying this jacket and pairing it up with the Stratus, and Fanatic Hoody, I seldom get to use my Fanatic setup. It gets me into the cooollldddd winter months of Michigan. Great Jacket.
The Celsius midi is a great piece for layering and can be a good outer layer if you are not getting into briars and any rough brush. I wore this a few times as my outer layer but most often it was my mid layer. I ended up buying the Cold Weather Hoodie to wear in place of this and the Fanatic hoodie in colder temps, mainly to reduce a layer and get the thicker hood/mask combo of the CWH. With temps below 25F I would add this over the base heavyweight Merino top and Cold Weather Hoodie and under my Stratus jacket. Perfect, even if four layers. Easily shed if the morning warmed up,
Negatives: The thumb hole aspect is great. But the length is too short. I think this jacket should be offered in "Tall" sizes so that the extra inch or two in sleeve length and thumb hold comfort would work much better. Wearing this jacket on it's own over just a base layer for me, in a Large, had the sleeve/thumb hole being uncomfortable and too tight. Normally I order a "Tall" if it's available and this piece would be perfect in a longer sleeve option.
Perfect layering jacket. Today I wore it with a base layer, Fanatic Hoody and Stratus jacket and pants and never got cold at 25 degrees. I am 5'9, 180 lbs and the whole setup sized in large fit me perfectly.
A solid lightweight insulating layer. I am 6 ft 175lbs and the large fits me perfect. I wear a size large Sitka hoody under it and a size large stratus coat over top. This keeps me warm through mid-nov in MN. Once the temps go below freezing, I’d probably opt for the Fanatic coat.
This is the perfect layering jacket. It is tapered in the arms to avoid excess bulk, and a streamline approach needed by bowhunters. It is very light an packable, but still very warm. Pack it in with your outer jacket and start with both when the morning sun comes up. If it heats up some, remove your outer jacket and just hunt in this jacket. Great addition to my system!
Real nice jacket and it has kept me warm but the down or insulation is coming out of the jacket everywhere. Durability should be a little lower. I’ve been using this jacket for 2 years now and overall it is a nice jacket, except for the durability.
This jacket packs great, it’s super warm, breaths well, and for a down jacket, it’s SUPER quiet and incredibly versatile. You can’t beat it for deer hunting on those cold days, especially paired up with the Fanatic or Stratus!
I can honestly say this is the single most versatile piece that I have from Sitka and it's also my favorite piece. I wear this jacket from the first day of the season until the last and on out from there. This jacket folds up super compact and it lives in my pack all season for all occasions. It is perfect for those early season mornings and evenings when the sun is behind the horizon and you need just that extra layer of warmth. I wear it as my walk in layer from mid-late season when I don't want to sweat walking in and then leave it on as an insulation layer. I even wear it as a light jacket getting to and from classes around campus in the winter time and its keeps me far warmer than some of the other heavier jackets I have do. Absolutely a vital piece in my whitetail and every day system
The ideal jacket for any whitetail hunter. Probably the most versatile jacket of ALL sitka clothing, and that's really saying something. With its incredible packability, efficient weight to warmth ratio, and superb comfort..look no further!!! Can be used as a mid layer under neath the fanatic or stratus system, and i sometimes even wear it under my jet stream jacket on windy days! I am 6'3 205 pounds and the XL fits great with plenty of room to layer but still has a nice athletic fit and isn't too baggy.
I bought this jacket to go under my stratus jacket. However this turkey season got very cold, mornings in the low 30s. That said this jacket is the only thing I wore and i stayed warm the whole time. My only grip is where my best rubbed the outer shell it has fine threads poking through the shell. It’s the primaloft I imagine. Overall I’m glad I bought it, very comfortable to wear.
You will think this jacket isn’t gonna be warm enough based off how thin and light it is. And you would be dead wrong. I’ve never worn a jacket this light and warm in my light. Not to mention the fit is perfect. I’m 5 10 185 and large is a perfect fit. I layers perfect with my baselayer and fanatic hoodie under it. Can’t say enough good things about this piece.
I wore this jacket over a light weight t-shirt along with my fanatic vest, it was 28 degrees and light snow, wow was I impressed. Later in the season I hunted a very cold windy day here in the north east, 11 degrees, had my Sitka base layers, equinox pants and this jacket on for the walk in. When I got to my stand I topped it off with my fanatic bibs and jacket, stayed toasty warm even with that biting wind. Topped it off with the fanatic hat, these products are very well made and worth every penny in my opinion.
This jacket is definitely as Sitka says, a "puffy" jacket. That being said, I do really like this jacket and I think it would be most hunter's best friend in October through early to mid November. My ideal temperature range for this jacket is 65-40 degrees and down into the 30's with either no wind, or with the stratus vest or jet stream vest when it's windy in the 30's. It is the perfect jacket for the mid season as a whitetail hunter but is not meant for the late season, unless it is used as a mid layer piece under the Stratus Jacket or Fanatic Jacket. I was originally going to buy the Celsius Midi jacket but I figured it would be warmer than this one and I wanted a jacket I could wear in warmer temperatures so I went with the Celsius Jacket instead. My only knock on this jacket is where the insulation is cut out on the sides. I'm not really sure why the insulation isn't there but it's not really that big of an issue. Still a 5 star product with my minor knock on it.
Just for reference, I'm 6 foot and a bigger guy and I normally wear an XL in clothing but ordered this in XXL. I did this because I wanted to have some room to wear a vest or layer under this if I wanted to wear it in the 30's, and I've definitely got that room and am still comfortable in it without layering. I imagine I could have ordered this in an XL and got by just fine but ordering a size bigger is just going to personally help me wear it in a little colder temperatures.
