I purchased the Grumman pant in a size large (6’ weight varies between 190 and 210), after wanting a pant that was warm, light, and could be layered over my boots and hunting pants and was dissatisfied with other pants I had purchased from mountaineering companies. With the Grumman pant I now have a warm, light, packable pant that I have used for ice fishing, winter camping in -15 degrees F, and early spring fishing under my waders. As with all other Stone Glacier products you can tell they put a lot of though and attention into the design. The full side zips are great for venting or putting on over boots. Truly the best down pant I have used to date.
By far the best coat that I have ever had. Compared to a Patagonia Nano Puff that was my go to before this jacket, the De Havilland has a better durability feel and more options for venting. When worn with the Stone Glacier Chinook Merino Wool long sleeve it almost all you need in cooler temps ranging from 28-40 degrees. It is light weight and it almost feels like a shirt at times. Shooting my bow in this jacket is amazing and you can tell the crew at Stone Glacier had that in mind. The hood design is damn near perfect without the pulling from the back and allowing a better 'visor' area that allows you to see well both straight and peripherally and still allowing to keep large falling snow flakes and rain off the face. Not enough can be said about this coat. It is worth every penny and if you value a quality jacket for aggressive outdoor use than look no further. Personal dimensions for reference; I am 6'1'' and weigh 210. Dimensionally I have a swimmer's build (longer arms and broad shoulders) and the sleeves and sternum areas are very comfortable.
Although I didn't get to use these this year on my late season elk hunt because they were out of stock, I absolutely love them! Cant wait to have these on next season. Stone Glaciers customer service is impeccable. No one does it better.
Everyone talks about the difference puffy pants make. I couldnt wait to buy these and try them out, especially since I run the rest of SG's pant line. These are very useful in keeping me warm when glassing when I used to only glass for shorter periods of time, now I am able to much longer. I also lightened up my sleeping bag because I own a full puffy suit! Thanks SG
Being from the northwest mainly hunting blacktail deer, I am super impressed with how durable and quiet this jacket has been also the ability to shed water while getting rained on for hours on end. Definitely a jacket to have in the arsenal
Excellent service and quality. De Havilland hacket is ideal piece of gear. The pants are awesome. The New hoody is perfect. All together a great system. I would also like to see a lighter weight synthetic puffy
I spend quite a bit of time in the backcountry here in Utah- skiing, hunting, and climbing. I’ve burned through just about every type of lightweight down pant there is. I think I’ve finally found the perfect combo of durability, warmth, and weight. SG has found a new fan.
I have always worn a size large jacket. I am 6’2”” 182 lbs. It was just a little snug across the back and upper chest. Details and craftsmanship is very good. Was thinking of ordering a XL. Lot that it doesn’t have any wind stopper and it has pit zips. I was thinking of a different fit than the Sitka Jetstream but it is very similar..
I just got back from a five day fly fishing trip using nothing but Stone Glacier gear. it was the best experience I have ever had. The De Haviland Jacket and pants kept me dry through two days of rain and hours of wet wading in the creeks. I was warm, dry, and happy throughout the whole trip!! I highly recommend The Helio and De Haviland layers.
I ordered the jacket and pants. I am very happy with both items. The pants are definitely my favorite as function and comfort were met with ease. The jacket is made to last and is exactly what you want function wise. My only complaint was on the comfort side. The jacket seems to be made for narrower shoulders and there are times I am restricted in my movement. Also, the pit zips were slightly uncomfortable while wearing a short sleeve shirt without some kind of backer. Overall I really like where Stone Glacier is going as a whole and look forward to buying more from them in the future.
Jacket works phenomenally! Pit zips dump heat when needed, and the jacket really cuts the wind. Went 3 days in Mt Evans Wilderness, and this jacket with a base layer was perfect for the cool nights and windy days. Would recommend.
Once again another outstanding product by stone glacier!! Fit, feel and design of jacket is awesome. Pockets are positioned perfectly with pack on, quality materials.. I'm a stone glacier customer for life and thanks to father's day I have gift cards burning holes in pocket.
Own grey and brown size M. Used in the Adirondacks in NY. Warm, quiet, sheds water well. Breaks wind well. Layers fit perfect underneath. Hunting guide here in NY. Product used over 100 days per year. Highly reccomend.
My size medium came in at 11.9 oz IN the stuff sack! I used to own a different brand but the amount of fill in these pants is far superior. Huge upgrade! The colors are much more dull in person as well.
Recently purchased this and the pants for the upcoming season to update my gear. Although haven't yet had a chance to put the jacket to use, I was impressed with the build quality and comfort of it. So much so my wife (who doesn't hunt wants one!)
Jacket is well thought out. Haven’t had it out in the bush yet. I’m sure it will perform as expected. Fit is a bit snug but that could be good for layering under a puffy. It’s breathable which is great but doesn’t block the wind that well.
After a quite few shed hunts and hikes, through slivers, buckbrush, willows, the De Havilland Jacket not only held up to the rough abrasion, it has a nice sleek fit to move through anything with ease. Another recommended product!
I really like the fit of the jacket. Not too loose but loose enough to get a mid layer under. I’m 6’ 210 lbs and the XL fits me perfect. I’m usually right in between sixes with coats but the De Haviland fits me perfect.
