The all-new De Havilland LITE Pants offer the same industry-leading features as our best-selling De Havilland Pants with an updated, Nylon double weave textile that is about 25% lighter than its all-season predecessor. Built with our innovative and patent-pending Contour Waist System, true boot cut cuffs, Stratum Zippered Layer System, and YKK zippers, this pant will be your go-to for all early season forays into the backcountry. Knee pad compatibility and front-facing cargo pockets that include an internal cell phone sleeve ensure comfort and easy access to necessities. If you are on the market for a backpacking pant, fit for early-season conditions, or you already love our original De Havilland Pants, the De Havilland LITE Pants are sure to become your new go-to in the mountains.
Our innovative patent-pending Contour Waist System is designed specifically for increased comfort and performance when backpacking. Our goal was to eliminate bulk and allow an exact fit around the waist to reduce hot-spots on the hips as a result of miles hiked wearing a tightly cinched waist belt. By minimizing the materials needed for belt loops, removing snaps and buttons, and incorporating our micro-adjust zipper fly, the Contour Waist System provides unparalleled comfort and a 100% custom fit, unlike any other pant system.
The Stratum Layered Zipper System is an innovative feature found on all Stone Glacier pants and bottoms. This unique system allows the wearer to vent their layers all the way to the skin for unprecedented temperature regulation without requiring the repetitive addition and removal of layers throughout the day. Increase warmth by keeping all the zippers closed during extended glassing sessions and unzip to quickly ventilate and dump heat during periods of high exertion. No matter the situation, the Stratum Layered Zipper System makes temperature regulation easier than ever.

As the title says I took them to Hawaii for a hunt and some hiking. They worked great crawling through the morning dew as the water beaded up and ran off the pants. It didn't get warm enough to need the vents that day. Pockets are in the right spots. I didn't take knee pads but have put them in and out several times at home and will come in handy crawling through cactus and rock this fall. The only downside is I'm right at the max waist sizing on large and the XL where like wearing a tent as pants for me. That is on me though, just need to get off the couch. Other than that the fit through the thighs is perfect for me (a freckle looser than other hunting pants.) I didn't notice them being overly loud, and for windy Wyoming they will be perfect this fall. The tall is long which I like so debris doesn't fall in my low top boots.
The overall build of the Stone Glacier gear is incredible, the fit was great. My only issue is that I wish all of the companies that sell hunting gear would start offering the option to purchase in different lengths. Not everyone who hunts is taller than 6'1. Although SG offered to hem them right up for me, I wish it came with that option right out the gate.
These pants are amazing! They will be my go to early season elk archery pant and my pheasant hunting pants. They are well made and very thought out design. The vent zips and adjustable waist are ahead of their time. Great job SG on an amazing product!!
Love these pants! they are just as comfortable as the regular De Havilland pants and not near as warm in the hotter weather. The fitting is a little different compared to last years Regular De Havillands, but it was a good change! Will probably end up buying another pair soon.
Haven’t actually gotten these in the field yet, as conditions don’t yet warrant that light, breezy feeling down below. First impressions, however... Fit and finish meet the same high standards as the original De Havilland Pant, and the fabric will definitely make those early season scouts less sweaty. Looking forward to getting out when the weather makes these appropriate.
I purchased the pants for a 34 inch waist so I got a medium. They definitely didn’t fit 34 inches. I then moved up to the large and they fit great in the waist but were well past 33 inches in the inseam as listed. I measured them out to be closer to 35. So I had to get them hemmed. I also wasn’t overly impressed with the stitching, I found lots of spots where the stitching was pulled or just sloppy. As long as they hold up it will be more of an appearance thing, so I could care less, time will tell. With the cost of the pants, I did expect better quality. Love the design though.
Due to weather I have only been able to wear these pants out once. However I'm very impressed with color, fit, pocket placement, and overall weight of the pants. I am looking forward to putting some miles on them very soon.
For the customers awareness, the pants are ranger green, not the grayish color that appears in the photo. SG took my call on this and apologized for misrepresenting the color. Said they would fix the photo. They offered to return the pants. Customer service was good. In my mind something named “tarmac” would be akin to tarmac (crushed rock mixed with tar) in color. The pants will serve their purpose for hiking / scouting. The pants are loud. Perhaps they’ll quite up some and be used for bow hunting stalks later this year. I’m not a huge fan of the crouch zip / Velcro area. The zipper seems to hang up and I get Velcro separating sounds every time I unzip. I don’t like the extra sound. I get and appreciate the concept (large adjustability) though. The belt loops are a tad too small to run the small end of a cobra belt buckle through without a fight. Whereas my belt buckle fits through all of my traditional jeans, khakis, tactical pants and Sitka gear belt loops with zero issues. Overall I like the pocket layout, the side zips and function of the pant. There’s room for improvement.
Haven’t hunted in them yet but look like another well made piece of SG gear, might be a bit noisy in all the weeds and brush that I hunt in but time will tell.No doubting the quality of the product and service from Stone Glacier though I look forward to getting back to your store.Thanks.
De Havilland LITE Pant-Best Hiking Pant I’ve Owned!
I live in Southern California where weather is on the warmer side year round. I have been training to get into hunting, gaining knowledge, working out, shooting etc. The De Havilland LITE Pant has helped so much on warmer days to dump heat during my longer ruck workouts. Simply pull down the side zippers and you can stay super comfortable throughout your trek. The pockets are big and helpful for carrying everything you need for snacks, navigation, etc. without having to drop your pack and rummage through it. The fitting system around the waist is also helpful if you gain a few pounds in the off season or simply just need to adjust the fit of your pant that day for comfort. The De Havilland LITE is perfect for backpacking, hunting, hiking or any other outdoor activity. I can’t wait to start using these on early season hunts or scouting trips in warmer climates. Would definitely buy another pair or just step up to the M5 or M7 in a colder climate and wear those over my De Havilland LITEs since I run warm away. Love the attention to detail and the pants are worth every dollar!!!
I've only used these for winter trips so far, but they have proven excellent. The huge side vents work superb and the material dries very fast. I like the adjustable waist design, it's super comfortable and works well. I definitely see them getting put to good use in the mountains here soon.
Overall I like the pant. The pockets are useful and the material is comfortable. The belt is awesome and the side zipper is a game changer. I’m a little disappointed in how loud the material is. With both the de havilland and the lite there is more noise than expected. Maybe this will improve once they get more use.
I love the pants, being from AZ the lighter and more breathable pants are a much better option for warmer temps. The original DH were just too heavy and hot for the warmer temps. I love the pocket configuration and adjustable waste. They are the most comfortable pants I own for carrying a pack and heavy loads because they create no hot spots under the hip belt. I love the extended side vent but I would still like to see a net or mesh lining under the zip open vent. That’s just my personal opinion. My only complaint about these pants is the noisy fabric. It’s not a concern for me for rifle hunts but archery I still say they’re a no go for me, just a tad too noisy.
