I own four of the much heavier, accurately fitting Rival fleece hoodies, and because I liked them so much, ordered three of the newer version and they don't compare at all. Much lighter in weight, much tighter fitting, and not as well made. Once you cheat on the fabric, the rest of the garment becomes cheaper. If UA wants to continue to challenge the established companies, they have to up their game.
This is the first UA hoodie I've ever purchased. I've previously only worn the compression shirts that made UA famous. I have to say I am a bit disappointed. I thought a name brand hoodie like this would be thick and warm, not thin enough to see light through. I could pull a no name brand hoodie off a Walmart rack and it would be of similar quality material. These hoodies aren't worth the price just for the UA logo. As mentioned elsewhere, these do run small, so I chose accordingly and the sizing is just right for me. I just wish the material was thicker. I wear sweatshirts for warmth and this leaves me wanting.
Although the page explicitly says to order up a size due to change in fit style, there is at least a two size difference. The XXL fit my shoulders similar to a L. I have numerous of the previous fit of this hoody and an XL is just right as far as overall size. This hoody is extremely well made, just beware they run extremely small.
I have bough UA hoodies in the past that fit just right... but the opening at the bottom was so rigid, it was a fight to get them on and off. I then bought hoodies a size up that fit a little too loose, but were easy to get on and off. This hoodie finally fits great and has enough play/elasticity in the bottom opening seam to allow for easy on/off. It fits great, is soft/comfortable and reasonably priced.
