In the off chance you get the blade to stay on as you attempt to lock the canister in position, you’re likely to get a terrible grinding noise, followed by an emergency stop and a retraction. Open the lid and you’ll see the pieces of metal that were once the teeth of the blade and the grooves that were once the drive shaft of the motor, atop your frozen dessert. Recently, while making a recipe I’ve done many times before, the machine made a loud noise and the paddle fell off halfway through. I assumed it was the paddle, so I bought a new lid and paddle—but the same thing happened again, proving it’s the machine itself that failed.\n\nCustomer service was unhelpful and only offered me a 30% off coupon. For a product to last just over a year and a half before breaking, and then for them to expect me to spend another $140 plus shipping, is unacceptable. You just do have to make sure to prep the base in advance, but once you've mastered it, it's as easy as pie, and the reward is well worth it!
