Everyone wants this to be included with the bladder and maybe it should. Personally I would pay 5 times the cost of this crazy thing if it just worked. Unbelievably it just sort of sits over the bite valve....there is no reassuring 'snap' when you put it on. How can that be? What's the point of designing something like this and not having it snap on to the valve? It regularly falls off during usage and there's definitely no air tight protection from trail dust getting in. Does Osprey road test these things? It's so obviously a huge fail. Not good.
Osprey, you can do better than this. All the reviews on here are accurate. Why are we paying more to keep our mouths clean? But... my main complaint is not even that. On top of having to purchase this necessary item separately, the darn thing does not even stay on. All buyers definitely should heed this morning. It kept falling off the tube, therefore did not keep the mouth peace covered whatsoever. I eventually just lost it on the trail. Definitely not buying another one! This is really strange, considering Osprey normally puts out super high-quality stuff that I assumed was field-tested? When you buy this product and take it out of the box, you will notice the means by which it holds onto the tube, and this will show you why it falls off. Anyone using this will definitely notice it's lack of good engineering.
Would have purchased some other bladder if I knew ......
Bought the Osprey Bladder and then found it didn't have a cover for the bite valve. Would not have purchased if I knew I would have to purchase the cover. Then tried buying the cover and it is out of stock. I wonder why? Since the cover doesn't come with the purchase of the bladder, Osprey should make as many covers as they make bladders. Hey, you wouldn't run out!
I hike often and purchased my Osprey bladder over a year and a half ago and love it. I've never had any issues with it... except for the fact that Osprey did not make bite valve covers. I see now they do (*super* excited!) but it seems there is no way you can purchase them as purchases for this product cannot be made on Osprey's site and they do not carry it in stores... so I'm confused. As far as comments saying it should come with the bladder, of course it should; however, none of the other brands have covers that come with the bladders so it is not just an Osprey decision. Simply put, it is a way companies make money.
