{"reviews":[{"id":6485299,"locale":"en_US","rating":4,"title":"Good option for extending thermal hunting range","text":"I want to note that my comments are made in comparison to high-end daytime optics so I'm being more critical than a comparison to just other thermal optics would warrant. Overall I'm happy with the product and think it will give me very good service and help me extend the range of my predator hunting significantly.\nPros: The 4x optical magnification coupled with the 2560x2560 high screen resolution help offset somewhat the typical digital picture degradation when using the zoom functions. I can maintain image clarity much farther than with my other 640x480 thermal resolution scope and monocular. The package comes with two APS3 external batteries and a good American Defense QD mount that keeps the scope as low as possible. The reticles available include scalable options that allow for some measure of wind holds which for me is a must for longer ranges. It is a feature which is often not available in other thermal scopes. The scope does have integrated ballistic features that are set up through an app. The scope can be used on either a bolt of AR platform. The unit communicates with your smart phone or tablet via either Bluetooth or Wifi but I think the ballistics app uses just Bluetooth.\nCons: The ballistics app is clunky compared to what I am used to and the scope does not have integrated environmental sensors. Field setting environmental information is far from ideal in a hunting setting. The manual for the ballistics app leaves a lot to be desired. The scalable reticles available have very coarse markings that limit their use far more than you'd experience with a decent daylight scope with hash marks. (Search for Pulsar Thermion reticle catalog for specifics) My laser range finder seems to have a fairly wide beam and it's not perfectly aligned with the range finder reticle. There is no means to adjust the range finder aim point to align it. Mine came with only a quick start manual. The complete manual can be downloaded online.
