Even with the straps properly adjusted, I find that on descents, the pack often slides forward onto his shoulders to the point that I've removed the pack from my dog so that he can properly move to come down from a summit. I also find this pack difficult to balance and even with weighing out so the side pockets are perfectly even in weight, the pack often shifts to hang lower on one side. I am not a fan of the dog having to step through the front straps, I much prefer the design of the front range pack that goes over their head and clips on both sides. The material is very durable, handling going through thick brush without tears. The side pockets are very generous and easily holds all his backpacking gear ( gear carried does not exceed 10% of his weight).
