Love the rod, it loads up really nice and has a good action to it. I use it primarily for crappie but will toss light bass lures if I really want to fight the fish. It works great as a dock shooter and just feels good in the hand.
Very nice rod for the price. I bought this for a light panfish bank rod and it travels well. I couldn't tell from the photos but its a very deep green that shows up nicely in the sun. Construction feels like a much more expensive rod. I've taken it twice so far but haven't caught a fish on it yet, it casts great though. One issue was when I ordered they sent me an ice fishing rod case first go round so I had to send that back for an exchange. The case costs more than the rod I ordered but I didn't need it. Looking forward to putting it to much more use.
I went into Scheels to buy a St Croix panfish series rod and was talked into giving this a shot. I was assured if I wasn't happy with it I could bring it back (Scheels has the best warranty) that being said, this is my favorite rod I own. I have one in 6'6 light and 5'3 ultralight. Super light weight and for the sensitivity this could easily be a $100 rod. Paid with braided line a small gill feels like a lightning strike on this rod. Perfect blend of sensitivity and backbone. It's hard to find a good extra fast tip on lighter powered rods.
I bought 2, 6'6" lite action rods. I put a #25 Pflueger Summit spinning reel on each. I spooled one up with 4lb mono and one with 2 lb braid. The rods feel and sensitivity is outstanding, perfectly balanced and great quality. I would recommend the Scheels Ultra Light Series Rods any day of the week.
The split grip makes the rod very light. The tip is very soft even compared to their other UL rods. If your looking for an UL check this model out compared to the other scheels brand rods. I had their regular model in one hand this in the other and it was day and night and price was same for both. I love how I was able to get a 6' 6" in a one piece.
