This reel for the money is outstanding. Use the 4000 for lake trout ice fishing and boat fishing. I have landed 20 pound Lakers with these reels, no problem, except it does almost max out the rear drag. Rear drag is great for ice fishing. No more reaching inside the line to correct your drag setting. Only bummer is the anti reverse has about 1/4 back spin slack. Must remember to take up slack before laying into the strike. If it goes down the hole , you lose only a 10 to 15 dollar reel, not a 100 dollar one. The fish does not care which reel you use, and for the money, there is no reel even up to 40 dollars that compares.
I have reels like this one that are over 30 tears old and they have been perfect. This new IX2000rc I got is much smoother than the old ones I already have but, The bail does not always stop at 12 oclock. It goes past 12 oclock to the next revolution. Not happy with it. I think I would recommend it because probably not all of the are this way. Just the one I got.
Exclusively use these on all my spinning rods. Fish 40+ days/year. I've tried $100 spinning reels and find these every bit as good, if not better. I have yet to wear one out. Love the rear drag which allows adjustment on the fly without inadvertently hitting the line while fighting a fish. Love the autocast feature too.
