I had no idea the stabilization was available in the range finders. Picked it up and took it on the course immediately. The stabilization is awesome when it comes to zeroing in on a precise spot of the target between brush and trees. I’m used to having multiple ranges come up and then picking one that felt “right”. This took all question out of it. My only complaint is when you first press to range you see a red flash and almost like a grid/lines when the display comes on. This goes away almost immediately but is just a weird glitchy thing at start up. The Auto function on the brightness can be off sometimes I changed it just to MID and had good results. Now what made up for those two inconveniences was the fact that our last day at TAC was a heavy rain on the course. My prior range finders struggled with mist or light rain. I thought the day would be a guessing game but it performed flawlessly in the worst elements. Image stabilization seems to work very well and I'm surprised to see it only available on the Kilo 4k and not on the upper end Kilo 5k and Kilo 8k. Connection and integration of capabilities with the Sig BDX app are good. I did find that some rangefinder settings are only available to change in the app, while others are only available to change on the unit itself using the Menu/Range buttons...my hope is that this could be fixed with an update to the app. Altitude Units, Sleep Time, Sight Units, and Battery Saver can be changed from the app but not from the unit. Distance units, bullet group, and QuickBOND setting can be changed from the unit but not from the app. IMPORTANT note...the diopter ring is EXTREMELY tightly torqued down from the factory and requires removing the rubber cover ring and using a screwdriver or vice grips to initially break it free in a counter-clockwise direction after which it is turn-able by hand. Shouldn't have to do / risk this with a $500+ piece of electronics. Required a full reset back to default on the Garmin after a kilo4 update from Sig triggered resets on the Garmin. Hopefully Garmin and Sig work a bit closer on cross platform support. It was not quickly resolved by either organization, but a working solution was found on a community forum. I'd say its a 4 on the score. I liked the camera mount where it belongs on the bottom and the optical stabilizer. Was looking for light and a bit less magnification. Looks appealing. Works fine with a sig BDX scope in BDX-Lite. It does not work in external BDX-X mode with a Garmin Tactix7 Pro AB. It pairs fine with the Garmin, but when I range, it causes the Garmin to crash and restart. Running recent firmwares on both of them. I don't know which manufacturer is responsible for this crash, including Applied Ballistics, but I hope they can resolve the issue. I've created a support ticket with both Sig and Garmin. I am hopeful this will be a simple firmware fix as the products work well until you try to get them to work together to provide advanced ballistics solutions. If they resolve quickly I will update this review.
