They now offer the 1.5mm cable and 1.7mm cable even though they tried to tell me in my previous review that they never changed 12V output connections. It looks like they finally realized they did in 2024. Thank you for finally offering a replacement cable. If you would now offer a cable with a critter protective sheath around it you would solve all my problems. There are a lot of good cable options out there with a metal sheath around the cable for the 1.7mm solar panels but nothing available for the 1.5mm. Please look into making one. The supplied cable that goes from the solar panel to the camera just doesn’t stand up to rodents chewing through them. I would buy 3rd party armored cables and I had cameras out for years without messing with them. The old 12V output connection on the solar panel was a 4.0x1.7mm that was easy to find. Then they changed the 12V output connection to a 1.5mm that is impossible to find and Spypoint won’t even sell them. Even if they did sell them they need to supply an armored cable that will last. I will be switching to a different solar panel if they don’t figure this out. I was wrong in assuming that having a solar panel attached would keep batteries going. That being said, it has worked great for over 7 months. We now just have to make the 4 hour trip to change out internal batteries and recharge the solar panel. That being said, we have on average at least one picture sent to app every 2 hours when communicating and a couple with every motion. On a busy day we could get upwards of 24+ pictures, so I guess it has worked great for us for over 7 months.
