I've been using this head on an FS 56 RC for about 4 seasons now in rural middle Georgia and have not had any issues at all. Extremely reliable! You can use any manufacturer line, as long as you get the right diameter. Also, I haven't come across any polymer type line that can withstand even momentary contact with any type of \"foundation\". You can try to maintain proper distance, or simply replace the broken line. Too easy. Though I've recently heard of customers having issues with some Stihl products, especially string trimmers, I haven't had any issues with any Stihl product I own. I don’t understand why people seem to have so much trouble with it. Number 1, you can use any trimmer line as long as it’s the right size. I just cut some pieces and carry them in a nail apron. When one breaks or wears out I just replace them and put the worn pieces in the other pocket of the apron. Any trimmer head will break the string if you get too close to a fence or concrete. I have tried ever bump head there is and they all have their problems- the line breaks off at the head and won’t bump out, the string crawls under itself inside the head and you have to take it apart to pull it out. The only thing that keeps me from giving this a 5 is that it doesn’t come with the wear plate.
