I plan to use them for bird watching and as a complement to my Swarovski BTX x 115 spotting scope combo. I took them out yesterday and worked the Lake Superior shores for gulls, terns, loons, and mergansers. They were PHENOMENAL. The image is tack sharp, the range is perfect, and the field of view is awesome. I loved the amount of light that they let in. I really enjoyed scanning the lake and getting a huge range, which was awesome for the loons and mergansers, especially when they would dive for long periods of time, I never had trouble re-finding them when the birds came back up. It felt like cheating. They were also awesome in close range, where I was able to quickly get onto a few late season warblers flitting about in the trees and some winter wrens hiding out in the brush. I did not have any issues holding them steady, which is something I've heard can be a concern with 12x, 14x, and 15x binoculars. There is something to be said about the weight and feel--strap and all, they weigh in at just 2.5 lbs--and the way Swarovksi has designed them is something else, the weight is evenly distributed right into your palms, you can literally balance them right on your thumbs without much effort at all, but its more than that, they actually have an amazing feel to them, they sit in your hands so nicely, they just feel natural.\n\nThe price tag was big. I've been considering new binoculars for two years now. I had been looking at the EL 12 x 50's. The EL 12 x 50's were always coming in about $3000 themselves. So, I knew the price tag was going to be big. I am so happy I waited, I'm thrilled with the NL Pure 10 x 52's. I feel like Swarovski nailed it with the NL Pure's.
