That prevents you from keeping the top open for ventilation during hotter weather when there are bugs around. I can fit comfortably and also fit a small pack (\u003c 45 litres) and boots.\n\nI've spent 14 nights in the bag in the Rockies. One night was on the snow in 5° farenheit. The bivy fits a sleeping pad and didn't appear to compress my bag insulation.\n\nI've been through one stormy night, which in my area was hard rain, off and on for about 2 hours. I was completely dry in the morning.\n\nI cannot tell that condensation has been an issue. Again, consider my climate (Utah Rockies).\n\nIt packs well. Use the bivy as a stuff sack and store all your components you want to keep dry in it.\n\nThe poles aren't necessary to take with you, but are an added convenience and provide enough room to maybe read a book.\n\nThere isn't yet any tears or serious signs of wear. I'm careful about how I lay it on the ground and watch for debris. If I'm on a close foam matress I place the bivy on that, which works for me. \n\nWhy a 4?\nI wish the storm flap over the zipper was about 1 inch longer.\n\nA bug net would be a nice feature for clear nights when bugs are out.\n\nThe color options are horrendous. Used on snow with a mat underneath. The bottom protects the sleeping bag well. The small tent on top can be a little difficult to put up in cold and windy conditions but it is appreciated once set up. It gives space and is not claustrophobic. The zippers work very well with two sections to open as you want. Very good wind protection. Excellent breathability, no condensation inside in the morning even leaving a small ventilation opening throughout the night. The bottom protects the sleeping bag well.\nThe materials look durable. Plenty of head and foot space to store clothes.\nI haven't tested it in rain but in conditions like that I would sleep in a snow cave or use a tarp over it so I'm not worried about that. It seems that would hold up a light snowfall without problems. Good for winter bivouac.
