I inherited this hat from a friend after his wife passed away. It was my second Tilley hat, I already had a T3 in olive green. This hat is much cooler and lighter than the cotton duck version and the khaki colour is much more complimentary to my wardrobe. I love this hat for wearing at summer camp and for other more rugged activities.
After weeks of waffling I finally purchased this in Khaki (and the Cotton Duck, too!). Works for everything from boating to hiking to slumming - and looks fabulous doing so! Most comfortable hat I've ever worn. Size ran perfect.
I have a lot of Tilley hats. This one is the same as the original cotton T3 only in supplex nylon with the mesh ventilation. I find it offers the sun protection I need, is easy to shape, and very light. I think it is the best Tilley hat to balance looks and function. My hats say made in Canada but online are listed BOTH as Made in Canada and Designed in Canada but Made in China. Perhaps my hats are older stock from when they were all made in Canada.
Please make them available in more colours. Three is NOT enough.
Bought the first Tilley hat in Fairbanks AK while on gold a mining trip 10+ years ago. Got this module a few years later. I had it pretty worn out, my wife only let me wear it at home or fishing lol. Sadly this one fell off while mowing and wind blew it close to the mower deck and it got sucked up and shredded. It was sad to loose such a friend. Cool and shaded head while outside is a must during summer in Oklahoma!
I purchased my Tilley LTM3 hat in April so I've had it about two months now. I live primarily in central Mexico where temperatures can be quite warm and there is abundant sunshine. The mesh air vent at the top of the hat really works. I can feel cool air flowing through and removing heat. The hat is so lightweight it's hard to believe it's on. When it rains lightly my Tilley hat turns water very well. Sweat is wicked up well by the sweatband. I haven't hidden anything in the top storage area but it's nice that its there. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with my hat and wouldn't hesitate to order it again.
in 2004 my husband bought this hat and its still going strong. It has had a LOT of use and washing, though, admittedly, it hasn't been through the digestive system of an elephant ;) We decided it was time for a new one and the original one will see out its days being worn for gardening and DIY. I hope the new one is as fabulous quality as the current one.
Replacement for my ole' Tilley of close to 30 years.
Tilley replaced my ole' hat close to30 years which was a daily part of my wardrobe. I wore it for all endeavours everywhere and many people commented on how they loved my hat. I am sure that this hat will be a good replacement although my first one didn't have a vent at the top. We'll have to see how that fairs in this New England weather, but if it doesn't winter well .... I have other Tilley hats that can fill in for the winter season!
Hat is beautiful. Well-constructed and fits like a dream. I went through a couple of Tilley hats until I found the perfect one. This hat does a great job keeping the punishing Florida sun off my head. The best thing about it is that it vents so efficiently and fits so well that you barely know that it's there. As guy who routinely has to have skin cancers frozen/removed,a good, comfortable hat was a must. Thanks to Tilley for making some models in size 8 for "large-headed" individuals like me. Now if they only made the Wanderer in size 8... .
Just got my 3rd Tilley, been wearing my hats daily for the past 30 years. I love the snap up brim, so I can keep the chin strap on top of the brim and use one hand to pull the cord under my chin when boating, or driving my convertible and the wind comes up (may have something to do with my speed!!) Sweat stains are a huge issue in the SW desert, wish they would design a variant of this hat with a removable and washable sweat band, and sell the hat with 1 extra sweat band!!
Purchased this for my boyfriend for his birthday and its perfect! We are avid sailors and own several sailing and motor boats and this hat is exactly what weve been looking for! We are now ordering one for myself and our son.
I got this hat as a gift from my mom 8 years ago. Since then it has been with me through countless adventures. It has climbed 14ers in Colorado, section hiked the Appalachian Trail, combined wheat in South Dakota, visited the Golden Gate Bridge, caught northern in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota, hung hundreds of feet of fence in Iowa, and in 1 week it will see the lochs and hills of Scotland. Easily my favorite hat ever purchased.
My wife pointed out that it had not been washed (most likely since it was bought). I hand washed it in the sink and let air dry. Bam all the sweat discoloration is gone and it looks great again. There is a lingering sweat smell but what else can you expect from 1 bath in 8 years, will probably give it a wash again.
Cant recommend this hat enough, in fact getting one for my dad for fathers day.
Each of us have a Tilley hat that was purchased about 20 years old. We use the hats on a regular basis and decided to add to our Tilley hats with the LTM AIRFLO . We are very happy with the addition of the AIRFLO selection for that hot sticky weather.
I got my Tilley LTM3 Airflow after meeting a fellow from Canada on a cruise wearing his Tilley Endurables hat. I told him I was looking for this kind of hat. He couldn't say enough about his. So I got one, of course. I enjoy wearing it all seasons in SE N. Carolina, boating, biking and strolling around.
I recently took this hat on an Everglades fishing trip. The hat provided sun protection for my face, neck and ears. I used both the front and back wind cords often as we dealt with 30 mph winds daily. When we were underway. I would snap up the sides. There was no way this hat was coming off. I remove the foam insert in all my Tilley's. I know this cuts down on the flotation, but it makes the hat much cooler. Worth the $$$!
I was gifted an original Tilley snap-up similar to this 14 years ago. I loved it! It was very important that I had a good hat to protect me from UV. This is the only hat I've seen that offers UV protection. I've had it on numerous trips. I've worn it on extremely hot days and it absorbed the sweat well, it's been in lakes and rivers. I would wash it by hand with dish soap and let it air dry overnight and it was ready to go again. I just purchased another one (LTM-8) recently and expect to still be using it 15+y from now.
Bought my first one at a boat show in 1990. Sailed with till 2011 and took it to Thailand where, due to my negligence (mold), it fell apart when washed. Bought a replacement in 2016 which I hope will last the rest of my life.
