Worked at an axe throwing bar and needed something more challenging than an axe. I bought this knife for the price and kept it for the quality. This thing has held up like a champ, I literally used it till the paint came off and the sheath came apart but the knife is as good as ever. Edge comes in a little dull - it didn't cut paper straight through like butter like the Thompson foldout knife did - but a little bit of 360 sharpening with finishing up in 600 brought that edge in line quickly. You won't have to spend forever developing the edge on this, in other words, if you wish to sharpen the edge at all. \n\nPenetrating an old kickboxing bag was easy as butter. It was surpassed in penetration ease only by the far more expensive Thompson foldout, and I bought the dart kit and Templar axe alongside this product as well. The handle is sturdy. The steel is fantastic. Balance is just past the handle. \n\nI may buy the pair of Holdout throwers at some point, but other than that, I don't really know why I'd buy anything else off of the throwing knife page when I could just save up a little more and buy another one of these. Its still hands down my all-around favorite knife. I throw all kinds of knives and this one in particular has never broke. I primarily use it as a thrower and it has landed on concrete quite a few times. If you want something that's going to last it's definitely worth the price. I got some SOG throwing knives and I've broke six of them. I brake a lot of knives and this one is like a tank. I decided to pick it back up and I couldn’t recommend this knife enough. From the balanced blade to the hardened tip, I found it could endure the abuse of just getting back into the sport. Botched throws that would normally bend the tip of a knife didn’t even phase this model. I ended up buying two more for myself and a couple more for each of my family members who like to throw. No problems with any of the knives and they were used in the Canadian Bush. They bounce off rocks and are good to go. Keep one on me in the woods and carry a couple in a custom made sheath for banging around the Canadian Shield. This knife is an all-around dead useful everyday necessity. I've opened cans with it. Made meals with it I've used it as a window punch. I've made clothes lines with it !! And one time it kept me from falling off 120 ft cliff !! I'm the kind of guy that gets used to a knife the way some people get used to a gun, a car or a chair at home. I don't like to change knives.
