The weight is decent the pod flips with decent force. Takes some practice lifting without triggering the release because…well… upward motion. But I wouldn’t change the release tension because it’s ready when I am. Got this on my 223 Wylde and my only concern is the height. It is heavier than other foregrips I looked at because it is metal. It feels secure when used as a vertical grip and it even feels nature when gripping the handguard and seating my pinky against the contours at the top of the grip. \n\nThe bipod release works well and the legs spring out quickly. I am going to add a rubber band that I can put around the lower portion of the grip for hunting to make sure I don't accidently deploy the legs. I think the legs make a very satisfying sound when they spring out, but the wildlife near you may not agree. \n\nI was a bit concerned that the grip would not be able to be put in a comfortable place on the handguard (too far out from magazine) due to how the legs rotate. That ended up being a complete non-issue. \n\nI really like having the option for an on-demand bipod whether shooting or keeping your rifle out of mud and snow while field dressing. I use a Harris bipod on my bolt action rifle and I really like it (especially beyond 200 yards), but it can feel awkward and really clunky with the legs stowed up putting more more weight toward the muzzle. The D-grip design makes the bipod legs disappear cleanly when stowed.\n\nIn summary, the D-grip is a great foregrip with an intelligent bipod offering. I feel like this product offers flexibility and really hit the sweet spot for short to mid-range use. If you want to shoot long range this product probably isn't for you.
