It's basically rubber molded to a composite cap. The rubber does stretch over the scope. I looked up the size of my scope on the manufacturer's website. This is the first scope I have bought that cost 400+ dollars, so I want to protect the lens from damage. These pop-up caps fit like I bought them on the scope instead as an afterthought.
