Vortex Spitfire AR Prism Sight

Crisp,clear, and works awesome.

I've had min for over a year with no complaints. I run it on my 8.5" 300 pistol which travels frequently getting knocked around a lot. I don't baby my AR's and the Spitfire holds up. And who the heck needs qd mounts? Build another upper and bolt on a new optic. 5 stars for what it is designed to do.

I have been using ACOG 4x32 LED with my LMT piston AR and decided to try something with 1x for my new Springfield Saint AR pistol. Because of astigmatism, I can’t use anything with projection/reflection design. I had used ACOG in the army with chevron for 10 plus years and always loved how sharp and clearly defined the reticle is. After researching, I narrowed it down to vortex Spitfire and Burris AR-1X. I like Spitfire’s clean reticle, Burris’s retile is too busy and the hold for 400m, 500m, 600, are just not defined (empty spaces with two harsh marks on the two sides). Also the reputation of Vortex’s customer service set an industry standard. Glad I picked the Spitfire. It is relatively compact and lightweight, the build quality is way beyond its price point. The image is very crisp and clear with outstanding contrast, better than Aimpoint COMPM4, but not as good as my ACOG 4x32, of course ACOG cost 5 times as much. There are some slightly image distortions but not enough to bother me as an aiming device. Most importantly, the spitfire’s glasses does not have any annoying color tint that is found in almost all other red dots Aimpoint included. Now the best part is the retile, looking through my astigmatism eyes, it is sharply defined, as sharp as my ACOG, the thickness of the outlines just perfect, easy to locate but not to cover the field of view, the outer ring in the Burris AR-1X is little too thick by comparison. The design engineers at Vortex did their homework well. In addition, Vortex includes a replaceable 5.56mm BDC turret cap and flip-up lens caps for free, a nice touch.

Con: Spitfire’s hardwares are high quality but I really wish the mounting screws are thumb screws so I can take it off in the field without a tool, it is just me, other people may disagree but I understand, the current mounting method is more secure then thumb screws.

Overall, the Spitfire is a really well designed product; I will be proudly using it side by side with my ACOG that cost 5 times more.

A few days ago I bought a Vortex Spitfire AR Prism Scope 1X and I will say yes, I am very pleased. Spitfire immediately calls itself with a very thorough performance. Nothing moves, does not creak, the housing is probably aluminum and in exactly the same color as my HK - Spitfire, it is a professional thing for very reasonable money. Working on HK after adjustment thanks to the help of Ryan from the Vortex Team is a pleasure. At the moment, I immediately choose a target and hit the target centrally, I am fast and very precise with Spitfire. I would definitely recommend and thank Ryan for suggestions and advice, he would be hit and professional.

Have had this for a year now. Love the features aaa battery...etched reticle.. etc. not much to say cuz it’s a vortex! Vortex for life!! this company is the best!!!!

I’ve had this on my AR for over a year. The batteries last forever. The dot allows quick target acquisition. The rings provide reference for they eye and engaging targets farther out.

I love the ability to change the colors for conditions. The etched reticle is good for backup if the battery does go out.

Got mine today. I can easily say I must have compared over a dozen scopes before I landed on this particular model!
The best in its class hands down. The clarity and the definition is superb.

It’s hands down the best 1x on the market. Use it for limited division shot out to 600 yards using the bdc turret and just holding over. Would recommend to anyone needing a dot for their AR.

Had trouble finding a red dot due to astigmatism. This was the answer to all of my problems. Super crisp reticle and a quality product at a affordable cost!

Solid red dot I like the etched reticle and great definition

I have had some battery life problems with mine and there are some red spots outside the reticle area besides that it’s good

One of my favorite red dots. The etched in reticle allows for immediate target acquisition and the choice of red or green comes in handy when dealing with light conditions.

Have this on my freedom ordnance Fx-9 9mm and it’s is the best red dot I own! Never go wrong with vortex!

Bought a few months ago and love it. I have an astigmatism so the etched reticle reduces the starburst effect that happen on other red dots.

We sell these at work and they are very hard to keep in stock, got mine on the way. Its crystal clear and the red and green are both very vibrant matched with the 5.56 turret makes it a good option for any range shooting(within reason

Just bought the spitfire 1x prism scope but the two cross bolt rail system doesnt fit on my 12ga cantilever rail. Is there any adapter that can fit ?

Been looking forward to buying this scope for months. Finally bought it through Optics Planet. Apparently I should have bought it months ago because now the model that I have comes with a one piece mount so that I can no longer change to a quick release mount. All the pictures I can find for this scope show it being a two piece unit. It's not anymore. Like the title says, less than enthused. The optic itself seems top notch but I feel very mislead regarding its design and flexibility.

I bought this for my 300 blackout pistol build. Overall it does everything I was looking for. Its light weight, green/red and brightness settings allow for the perfect setting in any light. I often times find that I do not need to turn the red/green on and use the etched glass only. My buddy bought his own after using mine.

Did my homework, watch videos, read review, and everything I came across was very convinceing. So had to purchase online, no local gun stores had it. Was very happy Impressed and happy with it. This was my third Vortex product & you have a customer for life.

I've had this scope for a year or so had it on my AR and it was great for close range. then I got my vector and wanted to move spitfire on that it does amazing on both platforms quick accurate shots perfect competitions

This rides on top of my 8 in AR pistol chambered in 9mm. The etched reticle does not require batteries, which is PERFECT for me. I have an astygmatism, so the prism design gives me a clear and precise reticle unlike red dots. I've used the aimpoints in combat, and I see this as a phenomenal alternative for anyone with an astygmatism!

I put this on a short AR pistol and it’s perfect for me and my astigmatism. Small, light, bright and reliable. Can’t ask for more.

I purchased this red dot after ordering a Vortex Sparc AR. I loved the Sparc it was lightweight fantastic both eyes open sight. But I have an astigmatism and the dot wasn’t well defined. Research on Vortex site and found out the prism scopes/red dots would seem clearer to me. The prism Spitfire AR is awesome. I love the crispness of reticle, etched reticle for use without batteries, the 1 moa dot for presicion shooting, and the use of aaa batteries. Well made and an awesome optic.
