I found they didn’t have padding around ankle and back of tongue to be able to tighten without cutting int my ankles. For this reason I sent them back. Also if I were to design them, I’d give just a little more width/room in the toes. I wish you would make the Cristy in Womens.
I got these shoes because I needed something really specific for work. I didn't expect to love them for... everything. I needed all-leather boots with specific nonslip rubber because of fire/spills. At the same time, I wanted needed boots that were light, because I would be walking long distances in them. I settled on these because, when I tried them on, they felt like workboots I'd be comfortable hiking in.
Are they ever! I was planning a long hiking trip, but my hiking boots were mostly worn out and I'd forgotten my trailrunners. I happened to have these in the car -- and ended up pseudo-trailrunning 13 blister-free miles in them. I'd only worn them for maybe 6 miles before that - not even a bit broken in, but they felt AMAZING. They fit my crampons, too, so I've been using them fairweather mountaineering instead of my less-comfortable normal mountaineering boots. The toes get a bit cold when you're on top of Hood at 5AM, so I'll be sticking with my Scarpas for any more sunrise summits. So far I've easily put over 400 miles on them, and they're still in great shape.
Only breaking in I had to do was at the very beginning. At first, the back of the boot dug into my calf right at the top, and the leather pinched my toes when I bent them. That went away after 10 miles. Great breakin period for an all-leather boot.
TL;DR: I'm a hiker who usually hikes in trailrunners/hiking shoes. And somehow I've fallen in love with these boot beasts. AND I get complements when I wear them around town. Best. Boot. Ever.
I wish I had known about these before I flushed $200 on those awful boots that rhyme with Simba land! These are so comfortable and the break in time is next to nothing! Now I don't have to walk out of the cheap ones every month!
Loving them!!! I was worried about never being able to try on a pair of Danners before making the purchase. But with my husband's help since he has a pair, and other reviewers, I got the size 7. I usually grab 7.5 for hiking shoes but most have stated they run big. These were PERFECT! I haven't trekked around in them yet... but I've worn them all day chasing k-8th graders around at my child care center. And they are amazing! Worn them through the snow also, no leakage, no slipping and sliding so I'm sure they'll do great all around! Oh... they are super cute by the way for a hiking boot. Hence the reason I wore them to work. Hope it works for you!
