I love these shoes. First time buying the brand. My feet went from stinging at the end of every work day in my under armour sneakers to complete comfort at the end of my day in my Mizuno sneakers. Well made and you can feel and see the quality!
Very happy with my first pair of Mizuno WaveRider 22
This was my first pair of Mizuno ever, and I'm very impressed with them. My heels have a tendency towards achilles tendinitis and plantar fasciitis, but these shoes have the right amount of support and cushioning without binding or feeling too loose.
I bought these for a Christmas present for my wife. She only wears mizunos. She has been wearing the sky's while doing some half marathons but is stepping back to 5k and 10k running and these will be perfect. She already loves how they feel.
Any time I try a new shoe I get a little nervous since my feet have been a bit temperamental for the last few years. Between plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinitis, there's always something I have to tend to or work towards preventing. But with these all my worries were unnecessary. My feet just about breathed a sigh of relief when they first slipped into these shoes! The amount of padding is just right, the hug around the heel feels stable without binding, and the width of the forefoot is comfortably wide without feeling too loose. The heel to toe drop is 12mm, which is perfect for me. I have worn this shoe around the house and around town for a few days to break in, on training runs, and in a few races, and it has not disappointed. I have not noticed any rubbing or blister causing spots, my heels don't slip and also don't hurt, and I could spend all day in the shoe without any problems.
Logged approximately 50 miles in this pair of shoes.
While they provide ample cushioning there is one flaw that causes discomfort. The Mizuno logo on the side at the front of the shoe is very tight, causing rubbing and buckling of the material in front of it. Loosening the laces does not provide relief and causes the shoe to slip. I would not recommend this shoe for that reason unless the problem is with this specific pair.
I have tried a lot of shoes and a lot of different brands and occassionally I am tempted and slip on a different brand, but i always put them back and walk out with my mizuno's. Only complaint is as they soften up over time they start picking rocks up in heel. . . Nobody's perfect :) but these come close.
I've used Wave Riders for 9 years straight now. There were a couple years in there that Mizuno changed the shoe enough that I actually did not like it. The past couple of years, including the Wave Rider 22 have gone back to that original feel that I loved initially. The wave rider is a great, lightweight trainer shoe. I will admit I can't get much over 300 miles on a pair of shoes, as compared to some stiffer models that could handle up to 500. I have extremely flat feet and the Wave Rider is neutral enough that I do not have to wear orthodics.
Love these! This is my second pair and I suggest ordering a half size larger than your usual running shoe size. I usually wear an 8.5 and ordered a 9 which is perfect. These are extremely cushioned, fit well around my narrow ankles, and provide great support.
