When I spend $90 on a pair of pants, I expect them to last longer than a few months. The fabric began to fray and I have to use a fabric shaver after every wash. Every crumb, lint, dust particle and animal hair sticks to the fabric, plus it wrinkles very easily.
I went to Scheels looking for a pair of active wear pants that I could wear at an event for work that I would be working inside and outside on a colder dreary type of day. One of the staff members showed me these pants after I told her what I was looking for and I fell in love with them. I wore them for a 14 hour shift and they couldn't have been a more comfortable pant throughout the entire time. They are the perfect weight for those in between temperature kind of days and were also very flattering. I also received a ton of compliments on them as well which isn't expected when you are wearing that type of clothing. I didn't love to spend $90 on a pair of active wear pants but I am so comfortable in them that I wear them all the time now! I will definitely buy the grey pair as well and wouldn't be mad if they did add a few more colors!
I went to Scheels to see if they had new spring colors for my all time favorite pants for hiking and everyday only to discover North Face has bought out Lucy. I felt like I had been punched in the stomach. No new colors. Only black and gray and they tweaked the design into something I would not wear. Tighter at the bottom and extra design added to the sides. They are no longer flattering on me. I have 8 pairs of the original Lucy Get Going pants. They are the absolute best pants I have found during my 20 years of serious hiking. I can't tell you how sad I am so see the orginal gone and to know there won't be any new colors to add to my collection. The similar Northface ones before were too long and didn't fit as well in the hips so I don't have much faith that Northface will maintain the Lucy designs and integrity. Already the original style is gone. I don't know what I'm going to hike in once mine wear out. So sad to see Lucy go. This is what happens when big companies want to get rid of their competitors. Just like when Gap bought Athleta and their amazing sweaters disappeared.
