This drain plug adapter allows you to drain your YETI Cooler while it remains stationary. The male end of the hose connection fits most standard hoses. If not in use simply use the provided cap which threads onto the plug. Compatible with both the Tundra and Roadie Coolers.
I bought this a few weeks ago, and it leaks. Of course, I can't find the original plug that came with the cooler, so now I'm stuck with a leaky cooler because I refuse to spend any more money on this cooler.
My yeti is lashed to the bed of my jeep and it's a pain to remove since I did a thorough job. This adapter worked great with a ball valve, 3ft garden hose lead and cap allowing me to drain it without removing it. I just uncap the hose, lead it out the tail gate and drain.
I installed this for my large yeti cooler to keep from flipping the cooler over to empty the water. At first, the adapter was leaking, so I used plumber's tape. Works like a gem! I hooked up a shut off valve and a hose, so now the water runs out of the cooler and off of the boat.
It really needs something like a ball or check valve to make it hum. I'll be adding something from the garden shop but it will then stick out further and be subject to damage. As it is the cooler will start draining in place as soon as the cap is remove and until the hose is attached. A hose could be left in place with a cap or valve at its end but that would be cumbersome.
On the plus side it is basic and fits well and will be used most of the time on my Yeti.
Works as expected, but there's room for improvement. Half of the time, the whole plug comes out when trying to remove only the cap. Locking threads or a deeper flat hex on the shank would make it easier to tighten the plug body into the coolet.
This is such a handy little attachment, that I wish retailers would caery them so you can pick them up without pating for shipping. Previous attachment was purchased at Bass pro Shop, but on my last visit, they no longer had them or perhaps were sold out, but I saw no description of them anywhere. It definitely makes it easier to drain some water from the larger Yeti's which can be very heavy for one person. I attach a ball valve to this hose attachment so the hose can always be attached and ready for draining.
Works well. Don't need it all the time but nice to know it's there. Maybe a metal option for the next gen? Seems sturdy but it's plastic so it worries me slightly. I'd still buy another for my next yeti
