I expected way way better...especially for the $$
Received this for a Christmas gift last year. Tried it out this summer. Very disappointed. Will NOT hold ice more than a day, in shade! Only good for a few hours out on the boat and then back to the gas station to pick up more ice. Terrible.

Portable, durable, COLD
I work for the USG in Uganda and frequently travel outside the capital city of Kampala and into remote parts of the country for both work and personal travel. Oftentimes on these trips, it's difficult (if not impossible to find drinkable (read "safe") cold water and safe western-friendly food. So I needed a cooler to pack almost a week's worth of water, several sandwiches, and fruits/snacks with the ability to carry it between my car and hotel room. Thankfully, the Yeti Hopper Two 30 was my answer. On my most recent 4-day trip, I prepped beforehand by freezing 3-4 water bottles. That was key to helping the ice last 3 full days. Even on the 4th day, the melted ice was cold enough to keep my remaining food and water nice and chilled. I also find the shoulder strap to be quite comfortable. It is awkward to carry? Yes, but it can be up 30 lbs of so hanging off your shoulder. So yeah, it will feel unbalanced. As long as you're carrying it short reasonable distances, you'll be fine. If you do a lot of travel out of your car and need drinks and snacks for the long haul, you really can't go wrong with this Yeti. And yes, it was expensive (save a few bucks using the first responder discount), but the durability and performance is on par for this price point.

After having my Hopper 20 for several years, the zipper broke off. Yeti was awesome and replaced the cooler with the Hopper Two 30 b/c the 20 is no longer available. During the first use, the zipper teeth turned and the zipper would not work. Yeti replaced again. 2nd use of the new cooler and same problem with the teeth on the zipper. Please improve the zipper!!!!

We purchased four months ago for an October birthday gift and was very disappointed in the size like an oversized lunch box. More disappointed in exchange policy yeti wouldn’t exchange for a largerk size they don’t make that size anymore.

Good cooler but the strap broke and you can't buy replacement parts, I do not want to buy a whole new cooler just to get a new strap.

Great for Carry-on
I bought this for a trip to Hawaii to transport some homemade baby food there and figured I would do some sport fishing and bring the meat back. Technically the Hopper 30 it is larger than an allowable carry-on but I went for it and no one said anything about it there or back and it fit with no issue in the upper compartment. The Hopper 20 is an acceptable carry-on size for every airline I checked out. I was worried about the food thawing out cause that can be a problem going through security. Frozen liquids are fine, thawed not so much. So wanting to make sure I didn't have TSA induced delays I shoved the whole thing in my chest freezer packed up with the food and with a couple of the ice packs. Everything was frozen rock solid at security screening after a 2 hour car ride and shuttling through the airport. Still frozen solid after the flight rental car and getting unpacked at the hotel. Only a couple of the squeeze packs near the zipper had thawed out somewhat but were still really cold upon arrival.

The trip back I didn't have the advantage of the chest freezer but still no issues going though security with the remaining food packs, ice packs and a small amount of fresh Mahi Mahi that another guy caught. The fishing was nothing to write home about but the performance of the Hopper Two is.

I think the thing that was the most surprising however, was I wasn't quite sure what the big deal about this funny shaped cooler is. It's obviously not cheap and wasn't sure how much I would use this after the trip so was a little hesitant about buying it. Now I think it will get a whole lot of use. It is so much easier to carry than a hard ice chest. You could put a shoulder strap on a hard ice chest but still wouldn't be the same. We also used it every single day on the trip for keeping food and drinks cold on our adventures and all I used was the two ice packs. Definitely worth the price for the quality and convenience. Now you just need to decide which size to get!

Can’t say enough about the Hopper 30. This thing keeps cold for a long time and is convenient in size. This is definitely my new go to for a cooler.

The teeth of the zipper scratch hands and arms putting stuff in and out. Also the zipper is kinda hard to open and close. Also not convenient to clean.

It does keep food and ice cold for our 5 hour road trips.
