When my son started rolling in his sleep, I was so worried about him sleeping on his stomach, but knowing that an alert would go off if he was in trouble gave me the ability to get a little sleep. I would 100% recommend this product to anyone looking for a little extra comfort while your child sleeps. \r\n\r\nThat said, the light on the base station bothers me to an absolute extreme amount. While the sock is charging, the light swirls. While the sock is on your child, the light is steady. If you have a child that is sensitive to light in their room, both the swirling light and the steady light are bright enough to bother your child. If you choose to keep the base station in a separate room to aoid the light, the connection might not be strong enough between station and sock, which can set off false alarms. \r\n\r\nFor people who choose to use this as a kind of night light or who have a set up where the light is helpful or doesn't bother their child, I'm sure the light is a positive. I do wish there was a way to disable the light for those of us who need to have the base station darken at least when the sock is being worn. We got our first owlet and it was the BEST PURCHASE WE HAD EVER MADE. At only 10 months our son had gotten pneumonia and we had no idea he was struggling so badly but LUCKILY we had our owlet and it let us know our babies oxygen levels were dropping down into the 89-88 percent ranges and we rushed him to the ER… These monitors saved my babies life because who knows what could’ve happened if we didn’t have it… Our son had no labored breathing or signs of struggle other then a cough and congestion… We used one for him and our Second child. They are now 7 and 3 and we still use them when they get sick!! We will always always be so utterly thankful for owlet! I will be buying a new one as soon as I can afford it ours unfortunately broke… BUT ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY AND THE PEACE OF MIND. After 3 years of IVF our baby was born a bit premature and had a BRUE at 1 month. ( yeah, I didn't know this was a thing either!!!). I ordered it same day at 2 am in the ER, spent another 8 hours at the hospital monitoring. Thankfully we haven't had another incident and right when we stopped using it baby came down with croup. I was glad I could put her back in our room and feel comfortable knowing she was not having difficulties breathing, and when she WAS! Everything seemed normal—our daughter had been sleeping, eating, and playing like usual. She’s a great sleeper and always wears her Owlet sock at night. But because we arrived late and were all exhausted from the trip, we didn’t unpack anything except pajamas and toiletries. That night, she was restless—tossing and whining in her sleep—but we chalked it up to teething and the long travel day.\r\n\r\nThe next morning, we were all exhausted, and my daughter looked more than just tired. My family and I agreed it was probably just the new place, the time change, and a need for a good nap. It all made sense—but my mama instincts kicked in. Before heading out to explore, I decided to put her Owlet sock on, just to double-check her vitals while she napped with Grandma.\r\n\r\nAs soon as I slipped the sock on, it gave a reading—and alarms went off immediately. Her oxygen level was only 79%.\r\n\r\nWe rushed to the emergency room. The nurses took her vitals the moment we walked in and rushed her to a room. They were shocked at how alert and calm she was for someone with such dangerously low oxygen levels. After testing and being admitted to the Critical Care Unit, she was diagnosed with bronchiolitis. She needed oxygen support until her levels stabilized, and we ended up staying for 3 nights.\r\n\r\nWe had no warning signs. Just a little extra fussiness we had blamed on travel. I am forever thankful we had that Owlet sock with us. Without it, we would’ve assumed she just needed rest—and that could have been devastating.\r\n\r\nIf you’re on the fence about getting a health monitor for your child—do it. Even if you only use it when your child is feeling a little off, it can make all the difference. It did for us.\r\n\r\nThank you, Owlet. We still use it for both of them. While you do receive a notification as they get older that it’s “not a medical device,” the sock still provides us parents so much relief. My older son has asthma and allergies. If he’s sick or had a rough day with allergies we still throw the sock on him to monitor heart and oxygen. We are very aware the device does not replace our providers, but in the middle of a Sunday night when he has a cold, it provides us peace of mind. We love it so much, we bought for our 2 month old and use every day for him.
