The sawtooth provided that support and felt good but I had to change out the Oboz insoles to a softer version with more cushion. My experience with both is similar, and they are replacing some well used and beloved Bridger earlier models of both. It has taken a week of breaking these new shoes in, which I did not have to do with the 3 year old models. I rotate among many boots/shoes so they typically last longer for me, although I typically hike 1,000-1,500 miles a year in the Montana and Wyoming Rockies. You make gr e at footwear! I appreciate the option for wide E fitting for thick socks. The grip traction is great even on ice in winter. These are quite breathable without gortex so socks naturally keep dry. It is arid where I am so sweat and not precipitation is the enemy.\nThe only significant complaint I have is the interior lining is still that polyester waffle weave that wears out too quickly. The rest of the shoe is in good shape after a year or two but the shredded inner lining exposes socks and feet to the interior seams which shreds the socks or skin, particularly at the heel. Oboz has switched to better quality, more durable lining fabric on other hiking shoes, and now I wish they would do so for the Sawtooth 2. One more nit is that the exterior thread around the toe cap could be stronger as rock abrasion can break the thread sooner than if it were a Kevlar or UHMPE thread.
