Two 55-60 lb active pit bull mix and one very active cow dog use this thing constantly with no problems. Although the sun never shines directly on it West Texas wind and 100+ degrees weather call for several adjustments to get it to perform flawlessly. Thinking of buying a new flap only because their noses have worn a spot on the door to the point it won’t even clean anymore so not because of function or failure but more of a cosmetic preference.No tears from the screws or misshapen screw holes if installed correctly . We have only had to put the solid insert in twice due to 80mph wind or we want the screen open but keep them in. Rare occasions at best. It has withstood both pits going out at the same time after a cat or squirrel or butterfly or leaf or whatever has invaded our yard without damage or the need to readjust the flap. I recommend this product if you are getting you 10,000 steps in by letting your pets in and or out. The dog door only lasted one year before the holes in plastic door ripped away from the screws. Not about to get a new screen door so I ordered a replaceable Flap Large. My thoughts are this flap is merely poorly designed and there can be an easy quick fix for the ones manufacturing this dog door. The 5 or more holes cut into the plastic dog door flap needs 'grommet's' inserted in the holes in order for the screws to not tear through the plastic flap door. The 'grommets' will reinforce the holes and not tear at all. Hopefully someone will read my review and change the design and manufacturing of this dog door flap in order for it to last more than 1 year. I will recommend this doggy door to friend's when the new design is available. The installation was easy, I just wish I could also replace the magnetic closure strip on the door as well but couldn't find the part on website. I have the XL Freedom Aluminum Door, 2 back to back to install in a wall. I have 40# Border Collies and a 100# Great Dane. In less than 2 months the side of the edge outside flap ripped. I purchased a new replacement flap thinking it was a one off bad piece. Then the opposite side edge on the indoor flap ripped. Easy installation.\r\n1. The flap does not close properly (now that it’s cold, it’s obvious why.\r\n2. The lining around the flap (insulation if you will) has holes in it.\r\n3. Pet safe doesn’t offer replacement lining so not only does the flap not close properly, when I make it as closed as I can, air comes through those holes and the flap seems to be a touch big (this is the small flap). \r\nI’m so disappointed. The dog door goes through a brick wall and is a medium size and bless the Dobie's heart it belly crawls through it. We also live in the country so coyotes, neighbor's dogs, deer, rabbits, skunks, lots of birds, etc. cause our dogs to go nuts at all hours and the chunky medium one and the Dobie always run full blast through the dog door to protect us. Numerous times a day plus the normal trips! We expect this dog door to wear out. And we feel your product holds up extremely well considering the use it gets.
