Now that I use it on the river I can’t believe that I have ever been without it. Situations that used to cause a problem are now rocksteady because I have the proverbial three points of contact: my two feet and the Simms wading staff. The locking mechanism keeps it perfectly rigid without any chance of the sections separating. Folds away nicely into the rigid pouch that you attach to your wading belt. Shorty after purchasing the point at the bottom of the staff was missing it must have came off in a river, but it still worked so I continued to use it. About 10 months after, the bottom section became loose and was hanging to the side, I had to use it cause I was on a fishing trip, then the bottom piece completely fell off. Quality not what you’d expect from a staff that expensive. Easy to deploy and fold back up. Plenty strong. Good length. Depth markings on it are helpful. The holster is nice - being rigid makes it easier to get it in and out. The way the strap attaches to the handle, the way the zinger attaches and the strap on the back of the holster all need re-thought. I ended up taking the strap off and redoing the connection to the handle. I also redid the strap on the back of the holster - with the snap back there it was too hard to use.
