I am a breast cancer survivor and need to padding over my chest to protect my vulnerable ribs. So I chose this one again. Both versions have the knife slot in a bad area. My arm hits it with every low stroke. So I moved my knife to the pocket. The new layla is barely long enough for a river knife. There used to be a slot behind the pocket for hands or my phone. It is no longer there. Normally as soon as I hit shore, I throw my PFD off, not the Layla. I could wear this all day, it feels like a custom fit. It molds to my body perfectly and doesn't get in the way during those intense paddles. As a female kayaker with boobs, this is the only pfd that really fits. Love the front zip. The cut is perfect. I've tried them all and this is the only one that really fits since the Lotus. Simply letting the shoulder straps out does not make it fit properly. If you like longer belly coverage, don't get it. The velcro zipper cover is cheap and loose. It does not prevent the zipper from pulling down. A better design would be to put a neoprene or nylon pocket for the zipper pull to insert into. The fit is the best I have ever had out of all the PFD's. It is very comfortable and has a great range of motion while still feeling secure. The materials are super soft and comfortable while still being durable. I've had mine for two years and have seen no signs of damage or significant wear. The knife clip is in an inconvenient spot but if I paddle correctly it's not an issue.
