We live in Ohio, where that mostly means hilly rides over 50,000 tree roots. This bike does awesome. Solid, stable, light, great drivetrain. \n\nDefinitely way too much bike (and too expensive) for a kid who who just wants a bike to ride to school or around the neighborhood. But if your kid seriously wants to hit the trails with you, this bike will easily let him do that.\n\nThe only downside I've found is that a 10yo on a suspensionless bike is probably taking less of an impact than my 43yo knees on my full suspension bike. Getting old sucks. 0/10.
