How to Choose a Putter
Start with Your Putter Stroke
Every golfer has a slightly different putting style, but most strokes fall into one of two categories.
- Straight-Through Stroke: The putter moves straight back and straight through the ball. This is the most common putting style.
- Arc Stroke: The putter face opens slightly on the backswing and closes after impact, creating a natural arc motion.
Blade vs. Mallet
- Blade putters feature a simple, traditional design that provides excellent feel and control. These are often preferred by intermediate to advanced golfers and players with an arc putting stroke.
- Mallet putters have a larger head design with more perimeter weighting for a bigger sweet spot and added forgiveness. They are a good option for golfers with a straight-through putting stroke or beginners.
