Bought it 2 years ago. It is my go to streamer rod for medium brown trout in the driftless area of Wisconsin. Can make bomb casts and have landed at least 100 browns on it without any issues. I have rods 3+ times this prices.....and ya know what.....it doesn't matter. Good fly fishermen can fish well with a $50 rod or a $3000 rod. Takes practice and skill. Don't belive that when you buy a $1000+ rod you magically become a good fly fisherman. This is a great rod at a budget price. 5 year warranty is OK. Should be at least 10. But that's Pure Fishing for ya. Older blue blank and the newer dark grey. Love them and are great back-ups to my Sage and Loomis. I actually fish the Aetos more than the others. However, I broke the tip section on the newer mod. Called Fenwick CS and was told they do not offer replacement sections. Now I don't want to fish my other and wouldn't recommend them. Its cheaper to have a section replaced on my Sage and Loomis than to buy a whole new Aetos. After spending some hours in the boat with this rod using a 5 IPS sink tip in tandem with 4\"-6\" streamers this rod handled like a dream. I will hold on to saying that this rod is a medium action rod but it can send heavy streamers 60-80ft pretty accurately with no issues, utilizing a double haul cast. The striper we were on this day were on the smaller side but it handled them with ease. Super happy with this rod and looking forward to more days out on the water with it. \n\nCustomer service is great - I couldn't ask for better support. Thank you Fenwick team. Not medium-fast as stated. large size streamers are not cast able with this rod. There is just too much flex throughout the body of this blank. Graphit can be brittle. My first aetos had to be replaced due to breaking in half in my second use. Send email and then call customer service for replacement. They should send you one free of charge. The rod is kind of heavy which is another aspect that makes it feel unwieldy. You won’t be getting ultra tight loops out of this one. Overall forgiving rod for beginners fly fishers. I wouldn’t say recommend Redington Wrangler of this piece of equipment if you are on a budget. I contacted customer service to start a warranty claim and at first everything was fairly quick. I submitted photos and other info as requested and then crickets. The customer service line is never answered and left messages are not returned. Neither are my emails. This is strange because initial response was good. There is a lot of comparable rods from other manufacturers. My rod broke due to a craftsmanship fault and I wasn’t too upset because Fenwick likes to advertise their lifetime warranty. After a lot of calls and contact forms I finally got a response and they asked for pictures and a description of the error. Not 30 minutes after sending these off to the “brand specialist” Sharita I received a “how was your experience” email which is usually sent once the problem has been dealt with. I called during their listed hours and filled out more Contact forms only to receive nothing back. I bought the rod in April or 2025 and it broke days later it is now late July and I have yet to receive anything back. Do not buy from this company. Buy from any of their competitors so you can actually catch a fish this season. It turned into my favorite rod to use considering I have several other brand rods. I fought and landed trout and salmon up to 20 lbs no problem. Would have rated higher if I could find rod section replacements instead of having to buy a new rod. I’m usually good about product registration but forgot on this one and I’m well outside the date. Maybe the broken rod will just become a decoration. Well with rods it is only a matter of time before something happens. My rod broke and I contacted Fenwick warranty support. I was receiving normal email responses initially and sent them photos as well as all other necessary information. This is where it goes bad. Within minutes of sending the information I get an email to rate the customer service experience which is usually something you only see when conversation/tickets are closed out. So I waiting a couple of days after receiving that and emailed them asking what the status on the claim was and did not receive a response. I then decided to call them with the phone number they provided, between the hours they provided. I have called approximately a dozen or more times, leaving voicemails and have yet to get any type of response. Today’s date is 6/12/25 and the last contact I’ve had with Fenwick was on 5/19/25. If you are still here reading this. Save yourself the headache and just go with a different company. I have owned Orvis products for years and cannot say how awesome their customer service is.
