{"reviews":[{"id":7905313,"locale":"en_US","rating":4,"title":"Comfy underfoot all day long, but rubs the heel raw","text":"This review not 5 stars only because these shoes literally caused pain and an open wound on the back of my ankle. The heel is too rigid, I wear thin ankle socks and have never had problems with any other shoes, including your hiking boots, which I've purchased many times in the last 20 years. I love your products, I have purchased many boots and sandals over the years, however for these specific shoes, while I love that I can wear these all day, that you had a breathable option, not just waterproof and they hold up very well for heavy people (amazing), I have had to wear a band aid on the back on my heal for more than 6 months while wearing these shoes every time I put them on in hopes that the heel would break in. These were purchased in March; I was still using a band aid on my left ankle in December. This is because the top of the heel is too curved towards the ankle and is very stiff, with a thin cushion which rubs and created a raw spot (open wound) from day 1 and for many many months after. It's finally loosed up a little bit, but I still have to make sure I stretch up my left sock up and/or have that pant leg partially tucked in my shoe to protect the left heel, worried that it's still going to rub raw. \nDespite that, I'm still a fan though, what I love, is the longevity, cushioning, and ability to walk all day on concrete (as a heavy person, which is a huge deal), hiking trails, etc, so if the heel gets fixed, I would 100% purchase these many more times, like I do your hiking boots and sandals. Only request, fix the heel cushion and curve, but don't extend the whole heel like many shoes brands today where the heel is overly cushioned and stick out way past the actual back to the foot, I don't need larger feet, those types of shoes are like walking in clown shoes. Regarding the bottom sole length of this shoe, it could be a little shorter like inline with the actual heel of a foot, but it's not as bad a many out there, them make walking very clunky. As for cushion, I have always had wide flat feet and your products have always been very comfortable (rare to find) and I'm able to just put them on straight away go hiking without having to wear them in. I can work in the yard, walk on asphalt, concrete, etc, all day, everyday, which is phenomenal. I recommend your products to everyone. But, it just doesn't have enough cushion depth in the forefoot area. With an 11mm toe drop you can really feel the downslope, especially because it thins out at the front so much. Darn, if this had more of that rear material at the ball & toes I could have worn it. They are true-to-size, my usual 7 was perfect.
