I tried 2 other regular bikes and they were uncomfortable to ride and they didn't fit my body size. I read a lot about ebikes and decided to try one. The guys at the Trek bike shop treated me right. They fitted me to a bike that was perfect for me. With the Townie series ebikes they have the flat foot technology, which means when your feet are on the ground, the pedals are out of the way and won't hit your shins. The ride is great! I can just sit back and enjoy. Hills are no problem with 3 levels of assist. Mostly older people ride these bikes, but younger people can enjoy them too. The Townie ebikes are a lot of fun at a very reasonable price. The service in the shop is outstanding. The guys are passionate about cycling and that feeling is contagious. Forget that! The Townie GO! is a super fun bike to ride for anyone. Was leaning heavy on 3 Stars. I have had this bike since August of 2024, this is a 2025 Model so they specify. I currently have around 600 Miles on the bikes, and feel this is a good review with some good time spent on the bike. We purchased 2 of these bikes, one for my wife, and one for myself. Both bikes came shipped to our local bike shop with both rear fenders dented and twisted. Not a real problem, as they have agreed to have them both replaced with new ones. My wife's has been replaced, and I am waiting for mine sometime in November 2024.\n\nMy bike has had some issues since day one. The crank has been making a lot of noise, clicking and feels like it's skipping. After contacting my bike shop, he came out to the house and tightened up the crank and it appeared to have fixed the issue at the time. A few weeks later, it is still making random sounds, and it's noisy. When I take it in for the fender replacement, I will have them take another look at it. Let me emphasize here, my bike shop, Brandon Bikeworks has been nothing but supportive to me. I could not ask for better folks. The issues are not with the shop. I also feel the derail-er probably needs some adjustment as well which may get rid of some of the noise.\n\nOther issues since day one on both bikes.\n1. Power just cuts out on it's own. Shows you have power level of 1, but there is no assist. You have to shut the bike off, then restart it to bring it back to life.\n\n2. While using the App, it always works fine when the bike is in power level 1. When I move up to say level 2 or 3, the application on my Android gets disconnected to the bike. The only way to get it back is to shut the bike down and restart it, then restart the app. This gets very frustrating as you lose your data from your current ride. So to avoid this, I tend to stay in Power Level 1 at all times if I wish to have my ride recorded. Talking to the shop owner, he mentioned he will re-flash the hardware with the latest version when I bring the bikes in for my fender replacement. Hopefully this will fix the disconnect to the phone, and fix the bike shutting itself down randomly.\n\n3. Both bikes came with the cheapest pedals. Not sure why they would do this on a bike that almost costs 2k, but that is what they were. I purchased new pedals for both bikes from Amazon that had 3 sets of ball bearings in each pedal. The difference was just fantastic.\n\n4. I expected these bikes to have a nice soft ride with the oversized balloon type tires, but that was not the case. The recommended Pressure is 40-60 PSI. When riding on sidewalks, hitting all those grooves, the bike is just to firm. It really bounces and rattles your spine. I remember I had my Trek Verve 2 with a shock absorber seat stem. I swapped it out and put it on the new bike, and that made a big difference in ride comfort. It was still a bit too firm though. So at the recommendation from the shop, they said to lower the tire pressure. That is what I did. I put the tire pressure down to 25 PSI. That got rid of all the jolting bumps on the front fork. I am sure also, this will reduce my mileage on a charge due to the increased friction and drag from low tire inflation. I have gone around 25 miles for my longest ride since getting the bike, and that is a long way for me. I am 67 years old, and happy with that distance, so depleting the battery would really not be an issue with deflated tires. Comfort is my main objective.\n\nWith all this being said, I love the bike. It is such an enjoyable experience being on an electric bike. Living in Florida, I don't need 500w motors, the 250w motor on this bike is just fine. Moves me around without any issues, and I keep it in Power Level 1 all the time so I can get some exercise as well. I don't want the bike doing everything for me. Would I buy the bike again? Probably not. I have always had a lot of faith in Trek, but for what I paid for and the issues I have encountered, and still do as they are not all fixed yet, I would have to pass on purchasing another Trek Electra bike. When you are spending this much money, I should not have to be replacing pedals, or software issues, and hardware issues, or mechanical issues. Think twice before buying a bike with balloon tires. It can be a very bouncy firm ride that can really play havoc with your back. They should have incorporated front shocks for this bike.\n\nI am past the date to return the bike, and that is fine. I can live with it once all the issues are fixed. My shop has been very good in dealing with all of this, and I could not be happier with them. They really are trying to make it right for us, and I really appreciate that. The disappointment factor is what has gotten to me. I seldom every have a disappointment factor on a purchase like this. When I write a review of this length, which I seldom ever do, that tells me I am not a happy consumer on this product, and it's unfortunate.
