My feet stayed warm and cozy during -6 degree weather. The only problem i had was that the toe box was a little snug with thick socks, so I took the insert out and use a half sole insert instead. That took care of that problem. I normally wear a size 10 and 1/2 (US) running shoe, and size 11 (US) boot. I bought the size 11, and it’s just a little snug. Not super easy to get on and off but I manage. I work as a liftie at a ski resort, and I’m standing around for 9-10 hours a day in the snow; recently it’s been anywhere from 12 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit, and on the colder days my toes were just numb for hours. I had to put on my snowboard boots, which are not very comfortable to stand and work in for hours straight. On the warmer days my toes will still get cold after a few hours standing out in the cold. The Bugaboot III XTM has an insulation rating of 600 grams, which is pretty high. Now, there are lots of opinions on the internet of what temperatures 600 grams will hold up in and keep your feet warm. Some say up to -40 degrees (F), others -5 to 10 degrees (F). Throw into the mix your activity level and how much body fat you have, and it’s anyone’s guess. However, everyone on the internet agrees that 600 grams is pretty solid and will keep you warm in cold temperatures. So… bottom line is that I like the boots, they are comfortable, and I believe that they will hold up just fine in warmer temperatures (I’d say around 35/40+ degrees (F)). Maybe my understanding of how warm the boots are supposed to be is wrong, but I was led to believe that these boots will keep my feet warm in the temperature conditions that I work in. And I was wrong. Good boots, just not warm enough. \nI hope this review helps someone. To my dismay, come the middle of the central oregons winter, approximately-15°f at night and around 25°f during the day, these boots paired with wool socks did not keep my feet warm or completely dry from snow submersion. Boots did an excellent job of keeping my feet warm in sub-artic temperatures. However, they were not good for a bit of hiking. There seems to be an anatomical structure problem with the boots I had to keep stopping as they affected my gait and produced a great amount of hip pain.
