I did not initially intend to buy another hammer when I begin preparing for my roofing project, but noticed that these basic tools had evolved considerably since earlier competitive designs that I have used for more than 35 years on various projects. The magnetic nail holder was the main feature that prompted this purchase and I chose the 22oz Milwaukee steel framing hammer after I literally tested it against five similar new competitive designs in the store with a board and several nails of different size. I chose the Milwaukee due to its balance, feel, construction, and ergonomics. In my opinion, the only questionable design element is the choice of a clear coat finish on the non-striking steel surfaces that is easily marred. It would also benefit from a side nail puller employed by some of its newer competitors. The quality of the steel and handle grip material has been outstanding.
