Modern Mole Trapping MoleSlayer Mole Trap 2 Pack
21479-MMTSH-R2
The MoleSlayer design is based on the trap's Netherlands origin. This version of the trap includes integrated setting handles. If you have weaker hands, the handles make it easier to set the trap. Notice the rounded, well-balanced claw design. This design allows the trap to close smoothly (preventing tunnel drag), scooping the mole into the jaws. Along with proper placement technique, the MoleSlayer trap design will lead to higher catch rates. The trap is made of high-quality galvanized metal — sturdy, reliable, and reusable. The MoleSlayer may be deployed in any active tunnel with little excavation and can be set in all soil types. The trap provides a quick, effective, and humane kill.
Instructions:
1. Identify a mole tunnel by looking for raised or disturbed areas in your lawn. The best trapping sites are straight travel tunnels or spots where multiple tunnels intersect. If you’re unsure, flatten a section and check the next day — an active tunnel will be pushed back up.
2. Expose the active tunnel and set aside loose soil. In light soil, dig a rectangular opening slightly smaller than the trap’s length and set-position width, with depth just below the tunnel. Insert the trap diagonally, then rotate to align. In hard soil, dig an opening the full size of the trap.
3. To set the trap, start in the open position and place the trigger pin inside the opposite setting handle. Set the trap in the opening by applying pressure to the handles while using your free hand to lift the trigger and place the pin into the trigger hole.
4. The trigger pin should sit just inside the trigger hole, with the front of the trigger positioned at the upper two-thirds to the top of the mole tunnel. A small mound of soil may be placed under the front of the trigger if desired. Ensure the trap jaws rest firmly on the bottom of the opening.
5. A properly set trap should look like figure 5 of the instructions above. The MOST IMPORTANT final step is to fully cover the trap with loose soil up to the spring or higher — moles avoid light and airflow. When the setting handles are split apart, the trap has fired. To remove a mole, apply inward pressure to the handles and release the mole.
