I am in salt lake so i am fishing trout most of the time. I do however take it everywhere i go. I have fished the surf on playalinda beach fl, to bass in south carolina and only ever change line to match the species. My 5wt has the backbone to cast huge heavy saltwater flies and the finesse to lay a top water above a trout without spooking them. Has treated me very well. Nice light rod with great action and the reel is heavy duty and cast instead of plastic like some combos come with at this price. Case is decent build as well. Has everything you need to fish right out of the box besides flies, but I replaced the fly line right away.
