This is by far the BEST shooting pistol I have ever wrapped my hands around and I include 1911 and 2011 from single smith boutique shops.\n\nAccuracy is out of this world and shots just seem to go where you want them like magic. Effortless. Recoil control is equally impressive with minimal sight rise and, speaking of sights, whoever spec'd these babies over at SIG is definitely a competition shooter. Perfect width on the front and aperture on the rear and the adjustments are very positive clicks.\n\nThe trigger is a marvel. All I did was move the shoe way back to accommodate my short fingers. It breaks at 2.25 but feels like MAYBE 2#. Crisp, non-stacking, just a bit of takeup, then a pause, build to release and it snaps with the smallest amount of overtravel.\n\nThe G10 STAS grips look like they would exfoliate your palms but they have just the right amount of grip and stick to keep your hands firmly planted through rapid fire strings.\n\nA precision piece of hardware like the P226 X5 STAS wouldn't be complete without the very nice carrying case it comes securely tucked into along with three very nice mags. These mags are the 18 round MecGar with the X5 series +2 aluminum basepads and their anti-friction coating.\n\nDon't think about it. Just buy it. Light yes but, full of creep! Three distinct catches before it breakes. Not talking about take up before the wall but creep. Not a target trigger at all. In fact this SAO trigger doesn't break as clean as my P226 MK25 DA/SA. It's not nearly as good as my P-210. Not even in the ballpark. Disappointing. They enclosed a test target fired at ONLY 10 meters, ONLY three shots, and measuring 0.708 inches. Junk. My Les Baer Baer 1911 Premier II .45ACP does a less than 1\", five round bug hole at fifteen yards, (standing and firing off hand, not from a rest like SIG does), it has a superb trigger, and didn't cost any more. The X5 front sight blade is way too narrow for the size of the rear notch. Love the smoothness of the slide, the fitness of the magazines, and the target sights are excellent. I installed a Romeo 1 Pro to maximize its accuracy potential that has not proved to be the best decision! Purchased the Romeo 1 pro directly from Sig and installed according to the instructions torquing all screws and battery cap to factory specifications. My first range day produced excellent groups with the red dot. The second trip was a bust when the red dot failed to turn on, dead battery! So the negatives… when you install a red dot you have three holes at the rear of the sight. Sig says that in the next few years they might offer a rear sight to offer co-witnessing. The finish on the barrel looks like it is chipping off, not sure what’s going on with that but a stainless Bull barrel might have been a better choice for Sig on their top of the line Custom shop firearm. These are both cosmetic issue and do not affect the performance of the pistol. The Romeo1 Pro … probably not the best choice optic to put on this firearm, I own two Romeo1 Pro red dots and both of them had battery issues within two months after installation. Both guns are stored in the safe and not my edc firearm, so I really did not expect the batteries to fail after only one range trip. I have other non Sig optics that have not had short term battery failures. I love this pistol and I am very happy with it, It is my second most accurate handgun (P210 Target gets the top spot). However the first outing was very disappointing. 100 rounds of Sig 124gr ammo and had 9 failures to eject and 7 failures to feed. Same result with all 3 magazines. Have had well over 50 new Sigs 22X's and 320's, never any issues like this. Looks awful, so I had to buy 2 silver base plated magazines to make the gun look as it was meant to.
