Rod performed flawlessly, but I also kept in mind that this rod is a price-point rod, made with \"good-enough\" components, but not top-quality (for that, you gotta get either the Battalion or Carnage rods where they come with Fuji reelseats and guides), so I always use the reel-clamps with this rod so I dont have to torque down the reel-seat screw to the point of breakage. I have paired it with my first gen Fathom 12 Star Drag FTH12SD and I can huck casts out far away with minimal effort. \n\nPrior to this, I was trying to cast out with a Salmon/Steelhead rod that was 10'6\" and couldnt get the proper casting distance, that rod just wasnt built right for the type of fishing I was trying to do. On the first day I got this rod, I knew I found what I was looking for. \n\nThis is a great entry-level surf rod for those who want to get into surf-fishing. Its priced just right and performs flawlessly. I literally took this rod out like 15 trips then it just broke randomly as I was walking out into the surf to cast. I noticed my reel was super loose, this is like 5 hours into fishing, the rod was not dropped or anything just chillin in a rod holder and the rod is now trash. The blank casts well and is powerful enough for 8+bait work. Grips are decent. Dura guides are fine. They won't break easily like cheaper ceramics, and I've never had problems with wear on other rods.
