The knobs just wouldn't stay on and one won't go back on at all. We have several of the gas ones in our family for summer, would've really liked to have gotten a whole winter indoors out of this. The plastic inside the knobs is very, very thin and not at all what we expected from Blackstone and for the cost. Makes it completely unusable. I had a $45 sunbeam griddle for 10 years, and it always worked, I only got rid of it because it was getting beat from use. I thought this would be great, no. First, the lid is heavier than the unit and not easy to clean. You have to remove the hood from the cooking surface, why it's not mounted to the base? The cook top is thin, warped and has about thirty different temperatures it can be 100 - 150 cooler in the corners than the center. Even after a 30 min preheat, the cook top simply does not conduct heat. But wait, it gets worse, as soon as you put food on it the temp drops and never recovers! I put eight room temp burgers on a 500 degree preheated surface and in seconds the hottest spot is 190 degrees. So they started boiling instead of frying and stuck horribly, still have brown spots I can't get off. This is not non-stick, at all. Its’ micro-thin coating is about as non-stick as concrete. I had my $45 griddle for over 8 years before anything stuck, this is 4 months old and I just threw half a batch of pancakes away, because even preheated and oiled, 6 stuck and fell apart. And there's more, the drain in the back is huge and if you put eggs on it they run right out the back, and there's no level adjustment. The minute you put eggs on it, it drops temp and instead of cooking they all run to the drain. Since the flat top isn't flat, it's got a huge bow in the center from the factory, and I've read enough reviews to know they all come warped. This unit is the most expensive piece of garbage I ever bought, you can't fry, you can't brown, you can't cook anything that might stick even with a coating of peanut oil on the \"flat\" top. I hate this thing. Seriously. I don't even want a replacement I want my three hundred dollars back, I can buy 6 good griddles. Shame, really a shame, this thing would be great, I loved the duel zone, I loved having a cover, but the design is garbage the quality is below the cheapest garbage on the planet. I honestly don't know how Blackstone stays in business if this is the quality of product. I will never buy Blackstone again. We have called customer service and followed their guidance to check the cord and clean underneath the burner but still does not work properly and makes cooking on it a nightmare. We have only used it a few times camping during this summer and last so it is by no means worn out. Loved the convenience and easy clean up but this weekend the thing keeps cutting off while cooking. I have a restart in a minute or so and get it back up to temperature, then it cut off again . Happened multiple times. Bought through Amazon in February. It’s ok with bacon, meats etc but eggs are just non doable due to the slope / dome in the middle. Makes cooking a challenge! I’ve also got the 36 inch normal gas one and it’s great but I miss the 17 inch E series because it never had this issue.
