It's perfect for camping, but I wouldn't recommend it for any backpacking or hiking-in spots. It is a little bulky when packed up but considering it's comfort/cushion level that makes sense. You'll definitely want a pump to inflate it. Just trying to blow it up yourself whether it's with the bag or by mouth is a chore. I have another Klymit pad I use just for backpack hunting because of the weight. This pad however is not light and does not compress down as small. But the comfort is so much greater. This pad is absolutely amazing if you do not need to backpack it in. The pad is easy to blow up with the included bag. It's actually soft and can be comfortably laid on without any sleeping bag or sheet if you need or want. It also has a heavier material and just feels more durable so not to worried about were I put this thing. It’s very comfortable and packs down quite small. I really like the one way valve for inflating and deflating. It makes the process super easy and cuts out any frustration associated with the process. My only complaint is that they changed the storage bag. It used to have vertical and horizontal straps that you could cinch down to compress it, now it’s just a drawstring bag. This does not pack down small. I would not recommend for backpacking. But, if you have space and don't mind the weight, the combination of air and foam is excellent. I also really like how the foot area lacks the foam and creates a slight drop. The valve is different as it \"flips\" on an axis to change functions, but check out a video on it and you'll be all set. I also ordered a small pump for this, as there's no way I would want to inflate myself.
