Lapua cases – we never leave our brass behind
Lapua brass is the best cartridge case choice for demanding reloaders. The base, body and neck of Lapua brass have been designed to maintain exact tolerances over multiple reloading cycles. Advanced metallurgical research and manufacturing techniques ensure that our cases are leaders in uniformity and quality.

Lapua cases are the best in the world, a statement supported by all top marksmen. The .220 Russian, for example, is the number one brass choice of the best benchrest shooters all over the world. All our cartridge cases are strong and uniformly precise. Lapua brass is manufactured to be reloaded, again and again. For reloaders who require absolute reliability from their ammunition, Lapua’s pistol and rifle cartridge components is the answer. Something is certain; we never leave our brass behind.

Lapua dedicated accuracy cartridges:
  • 6.5mm Creedmoor (with small rifle primer pocket)
  • 6.5×47 Lapua
The base of the case:
The Lapua case heads are drawn exceptionally hard for unmatched reloadability and for an exceptionally long life cycle to serve top shooters time and time again. The brass dimensions remain constant and will hold primers tight in their pockets even after many reloadings.

The brass body:
The brass body section of Lapua cases is hard and resilient for unmatched durability. It is easy to extract after firing, whether the reloader opts for full sizing or neck sizing only.

The case neck:
Strict tolerances in concentrity and wall thickness are used in manufacturing of the case neck. The neck and shoulder of Lapua cases are annealed to withstand repeated reloading.

6.5 Creedmoor brass with small rifle primer
Made with Lapua’s typical dedication to precision, our new 6.5 Creedmoor case has been refined just a bit, to make it an even better performer. We’ve opted for the small rifle primer, which normally produces an optimized ignition and better accuracy than large primers in mid-sized cartridges like the Creedmoor.

We’ve also incorporated our smaller diameter flash hole (1.5mm, rather than the industry standard 2.0mm), which has proven to provide enhanced accuracy, and is used in a number of our other accuracy oriented cases. In this respect, the new 6.5 Creedmoor joins the ranks of our other dedicated accuracy cartridges such as the .220 Russian (6mm PPC), the 6mm BR Norma, the 6.5×47 Lapua and the .308 Win. Palma cases.

And naturally, the 6.5 Creedmoor is made with our well known Passion for Precision. Lapua ammunition is manufactured with strictest control over the metallurgy, the forming and drawing processes and precise annealing, all performed under the watchful eyes of our production experts. For you, the handloader, that means the durability for which our cases are famous, combined with consistency and long life. Already proven in shooting competitions, we predict that the 6.5 Creedmoor will be a force to be reckoned with for many years to come.

The 6.5×47 Lapua case – a masterpiece
The 6.5×47 Lapua case has a base diameter and loading length similar to the .308 Win. case, allowing it to accept the same bolt heads and fit into similar actions and magazines. Lapua’s 6.5×47 case is also the parent case of several popular wildcats, and is frequently necked down to 6mm. This modification allows the 6.5×47 brass to fulfill an even greater range of hunting, varminting or target shooting applications, aided by Lapua’s versatile selection of Scenar bullets. With the incredibly wide range of both match bullets and hunting bullets available in the 6.5 line, the 6.5×47 brass can be tailored to almost any type of game or sport shooting competition. The 6.5×47 Lapua case is truly a masterpiece! Lapua bullets suitable for this case: Scenar, Scenar-L

Brass Preparation:
With bulk rifle brass you may sometimes notice a few case mouths are “out of round” or slightly dented below the shoulder. These imperfections occur in the final tumbling wash operation after the case mouth has been annealed. Brass manufacturers are aware of the case cosmetics and have worked to mitigate it, but due to equipment design, denting may still occur. Minor dents are normally removed in the first firing and will not affect case life or performance. On non-plated brass, you may also notice all the anneal stain might not be polished off, which may give the case neck a pinkish color. With some smaller caliber cases you may notice the case mouths to be slightly belled.

With all new rifle brass, you should first straighten out the case and case mouth, then chamfer and debur the case mouth inside and out. To straighten the case mouth, run the case part way into the sizer die and let the expander ball straighten the brass. To prevent the case neck from stretching, be sure to lubricate the case neck inside the case mouth.
