Haven't had a chance to fire it yet. Not sure but I think I hit the wood lottery - Marlin did a wonderful job with the black walnut - and I ended up with a mildly flamed stock. It feeds the 44 Mag snap caps I've got perfectly. Action is a little stiff out of the box but if you sit down, watch a movie and work it for a bit it frees right up. It doesn't show any odd wear patterns and honestly for a leaver action with 0 hours on it - it's really nice. After working the action while watching a movie it doesn't show any odd wear and simply got smoother as I cycled it. I will need to use a small mill file to dull down the edges around the feed tray but I expected that (most sub $2000 dollar leavers will need the same). Marlin also perfectly set the stock to sight height (at least for me). It lines up perfectly while you are working the action. Extremely natural.
