Best boots I have ever owned and worn. Probably my 6th pair now in the last 15 plus years. Unbelievably comfortable and incredibly well made. SC humidity and swamp conditions take their toll on the leather otherwise I am certain they would last forever. When i die I had better be cremated with these boots on! Customer service and the recrafting department are world class with old school business sense-quality and customer first
These boots were so narrow I couldn’t even get my foot into them. My friend even asked me why they sent me children’s boots. Just to be sure I checked the label inside and they were indeed supposedly my size. Thankfully customer service was excellent and accepted the boots back with no problem. Unfortunately the military sage green boots have the same problem, they ran way too narrow for anybody with a slightly wider foot to wear. I regret that I can’t use these products as they seem to be well-made hopefully someone will have better luck than I did. Thank you Abie for the good customer service and I will recommend Danner for other people to try in the future.
I have many pairs of danner boots, recently I purchased the Quarry boots and found them to be very comfortable. With high hopes I ordered the Rain Forrest boots, they are top quality, however, for the extra money I find them not to be as comfortable as the quarry boots. Also, the quarry boots have a very nice eyelet while the Rain Forrest provide just a plain one, for the cost I would have expected more. I like the boots, certainly top quality, after wearing them for a couple weeks, the quarry boots are a better choice for comfort, looks and value.
I've owned two pairs of U.S. made Dannersand thought I'd give them one more chance. I'm sorry to say that I ran into the same problem I've always had. The boots are ridiculously narrow in the toe box but big everywhere else. My normal boot size is a 12D but I'm unable to use a 13EE in the Danner as they pinch my toes but are slop everywhere else. I'm not sure who Danner is sizing their boots for but it sure isn't me.
I Bought my pair of Rain Forest's used from a police officer in Aurora CO when i was 16 or 17 and in a police explorer program and used them everyday i was there through ride alongs meetings training competitions from Class C uni To Class A they always fit the bill from house fire to city council meetings always there and always looking sharp. Now im ill be 23 and in a Police academy and my Danner Rainforests are still there and will be my class a boots for as long as they hold up i have no plans on retiring them from use
I use this boot for hiking, camping, and building a giant fort in the woods. That means, lots of hiking climbing, chainsawing, chopping, building, etc. I have had these boots for 16 years and just had them resoled and repaired by Danner and they are still great. If and when these bad boys finally die I'll be getting another pair. It does not matter if it is warm and dry, wet and slippery, or cold and snowy, these boots can handle it.
I'm a small homebuilder and wear my boots almost everyday. These Rainforests are very well built. The fit is wonderful on my long narrow feet. They came to me very stiff and took quite a while to break in. Most things that last a long time are like that. My truck has a manual transmission and it is a little tricky with a stiff boot. Overall a very high quality product and i do recommend them. There is one caveat though.........the sole is very stiff and has no give or cushion to it. If you step on a wet piece of lumber it is very slippery. Worse in the cold. I thought about sending them to Danner for a different sole but i think i'll just tough it out until this sole is worn out. That's the only thing that i see that could be improved. A better, more comfortable/flexible sole and these would be perfect for me.
I am using this boot for farming and outdoor work. Currently, they are in the "break in" period. They provide excellent support, stability and sure footing. I have a narrow foot and the boot fits perfectly with a medium weight boot sock and a full sole insert. These are the first pair of Danner boots I have owned and they will not be the last. Van at the company store helped me choose the correct size; customer service is outstanding. I ended up calling Danner directly because none of the local stores were familiar with this boot and have large restocking fees. Kudos to everyone that works at Danner...you know your products!
Love the quick break in period, basically comfortable from the start. Quality made, will last for years, water tight & numerous compliments on the looks. Only complaint - working 4 / 10's my feet do become quite hot in summer months, but that's the trade off for water proof protection of a Gore-tex liner.
Had these 6 years and have worn then on concrete, loose grave, mud, sand and in the snow. These boots work well with thick socks and are water proof. They are great with a heavy load on your back and have a long lasting sole. Once they are broken in they are very comfortable.
I purchased the Rain Forest to replace my Danner Elk Hunters because I was so impressed with the comfort and quality of those boots. The Rain Forest boots were no different. Danner's American made boots are the best boots hands down for tough long lasting comfortable boots. Since retiring the Elk Hunters due to an unfortunate lapse in judgment on my part the Rain Forest has accompanied my on many of my outdoor adventures. These boots are everything I expect from something protecting one of my most valuable body parts, my feet. Few things are worse than foot injuries when you are miles from a vehicle. I can imagine an eye injury may be bad as well but this is not a review for safety glasses. I have currently had the Rain Forest boots for over 6 years, wearing them to work, to explore, to fish to camp and even to formal affairs. They really are a boot that can do it all. I have tried several more technical boots from Italian manufacturers but they never hold a candle to the Rain Forest. Keep them maintained with Danner's Boot Dressing and they will take care of you. These are a five star boot from a five star boot maker period.
These are a great boot. Excellent support. I wear them for work(electrician) and to traipse around the great outdoors chasing critters, fish, 'shrooms... you name it.This is my 4th pair of Danners. I regret all of the competitors I have bought in between.
I have been using these boots around our small farm and doing construction. They fit well and provide excellent foot and ankle protection. Comfortable enough to wear all day long.
After breaking my Achille's tendon, because I wasn't wearing boots when I should have been, my orthopedic surgeon let me wear these boots with heel inserts instead of keeping me in the orthopedic boot a month after surgery. They seem to provide just as much support and were much more comfortable.
I've worn these for almost 3 years & they still look great! I keep them clean and oiled every couple of months. I may get another year out of them before they get sent back to Danner to get recrafted. Looking forward to my next pair of Danners, the Mountain Light II is what I'm looking at next. I have a narrow foot and these fit great with an upgraded insole.
I purchased my Danner's 15 years ago for an outdoor job. In my opinion, they were easy to break in and I immediately realized the first time wearing them in the rain that they were worth the money. My feet were still warm & dry 9 hours later! I continue to wear them for outdoor work, camping, hiking, etc. 15 years later they're still the best boots I've ever purchased and in good shape for the abuse they've taken over the years. I even get compliments on how well my boots look for their age. Sadly though, it's time for a new pair as mine are showing signs of age with a worn hole in the leather, but I'll be purchasing the same kind because I love my first pair so much. Take great care of them and they'll do the same for you for years to come! Thank you Danner Boots for fantastic quality craftsmanship!!!
First off let me tell you that I am very very hard on boots. This being said, these boots lasted me 2 good years before the tread started getting low and the leather started cracking. The boots are constantly getting soaked in water and covered in mud. The leather is just now starting to crack a little bit. I did wear a hole in the toe of the left boot and one in the right is forming now as well.
Like I said, I am very hard on boots so this doesn't surprise me. I believe the holes are forming due to me dragging my foot when I am mulching etc. More of my own doing than an actual problem with the boot itself. I am however a little upset that the piece of leather that covers the toe and wraps around the sides of the foot cannot be replaced by Danner. Maybe a local cobbler will be able to fix this problem for me. We will just have to see.
These are/were great boots!!! I would recommend them to anyone who wants a solid boot. The price tag is a tad high, but you get what you pay for. These boots were exclusively used for work. Just today I purchased a pair of Danner Explorers. Cant wait to get good use out of these for casual wear!
THANKS DANNER, once again, YOU WENT ABOVE THE BAR!
It's always been difficult for me to find fire boots that fit. Often it seems like manufacturers just take a men's boot and make it narrower. Women typically have narrower heels than men (the case with me). If they fit me in the heel they're usually too narrow in the toe box. If I try on a men's boot, if they fit me in the toe box they're too wide in the heel (slippage=blisters). Great boot, but my toes were squished and became numb within 10 minutes. On to the next.
Best boots I have owned. Last year while on a White Tail deer hunt we hiked 12 miles, I did not experience any foot or ankle fatigue. That is a lot to be said after being in a cast from toes to knee for 3 months!
I love their peformance AFTER the break-in period. They do conform to your foot shape after a period of break-in and not overnight. I had help from a professional shoe/boot dealer and I thought he was nuts when he suggested what felt way too tight and stiff on my feet was the right fit. I trusted him and broke the Rain Forests in walking around in my house. They feel like cement galoshers at first but are the best boot investment I ever made! They lasted 5 years in 60+ hours work weeks in telco manholes. This next pair I will have Danner rebuild. I took the old pair to an independant re-soler and they messed up the fit and I ended up giving them to[@]. Spend a bit more and make your feet very, very happy! I Absolutely recommend them!!!
Only one minor blemish in an otherwise OUTSTANDING pair of boots, and that is the lacing system. I'm considering returning these to replace with a pair of Ft lewis due to the difficulty I am having just getting these to lace the first few times. This may get better with time, but if you have arthritis or other difficulty in lacing this is something to consider. Taht being said, once they are laced they seem to feel pretty awesome-even at a half size to big for me. I have pair of the USMC Hot Danner boots which are 12.5 and fit me better than many of my gloves. Just the fact that I will be able to get these recrafted or resoled made them worth the price to me. The fact that they are obviously well made, good fitting and durable as can be...well that is just a bonus.
Thanks Danner-now about that lacing system and size availability!!!
These boots wear well, and keep their shape. They appear narrow on the outside but fit wide feet, which gives them a great appearance long after they ave broken in. I wear mine at work in HVAC construction trade . They clean up and polish well even after 2 1/2 years (I alternate days between a pair of Georgia boots, they have not worn half as well). The guys at work think I have new boots when I polish them. Just bought another pair of these boots to replace the Georgia pair.
I fit 8 1/2 EE in most other boots, but I fit 8 EE in these boots. I wish they came with rawhide laces, but I can fix that. These are WELL MADE in USA! And worth the extra expense!
just got boots 12-7-2010 the next day l did 13 hour day delivering coca cola.at the end of the day feet felt great.only down side was that thing the call a insole. i purchased an insole before receiving boots.
I own a land and wildlife management company. I use these boots everyday on the job, and wear them around the house. My state forestry service uses Danner boots too. They sold me on them. I like the fact that they are made in the USA. These are the "Super Duty" of boots. They are very well made. I also like that they are recraftable. The only complaint I have is the price.
I wear this boot everyday and for the last 3 months I've used them on rocky terrain, gravel, in fields and walked through streams, all without any problems. They are a good looking boot and have protected my feet and kept them dry.
