I washed it for the first time and hung it to dry, the stench coming off of this shirt was just dreadful. I thought the other load of laundry I had going in the dryer was on fire. It smelled like hot wet laundry, I even went outside in -20 weather to check that my dryer vent was in fact clear. This shirt had the scent until it was completely dry and then smelled like a normal wool shirt. I have other merino wool layers that do not smell. I also bought the Scheels Churchill merino wool pants for my husband, these do not have any scent and I washed them together in the same load with cold water.
